  • Laboratory Technologist for a Survey on the Long-Term Impact Evaluation of PEPFAR’s Dreams Interventions to Prevent HIV among Adolescent Girls and Young Women in Nairobi Informal Settlements.

  • The APHRC invites applications for Laboratory technologists to carry out laboratory procedures for the DREAMS Impact Evaluation II Study in Korogocho and Viwandani.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be involved in the following activities:

  • Obtaining blood samples from participants for HIV tests.

  • Conducting HIV testing to project participants.

  • Dispatching results to HIV Testing Services (HTS) counsellor for referral/linkage to care and treatment services to participants.

  • Coordinate issue of blood samples to National Public Health Laboratories for further testing according to standard operating procedures.

  • Complete the relevant project HIV Testing Services (HTS) tracking forms.

  • Keep updated records of work.

  • Maintain and safeguard all assigned project documents and equipment.

  • Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and placing orders for supplies.

  • Report in a timely manner project related issues to the supervisor for quick
    and effective troubleshooting.

  • Undertake other related activities assigned by the supervisor and project manager.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma in Laboratory Science from an institution recognized by Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).

  • Registration certificate and valid practicing license issued by KMLTTB.

  • Proficiency in computer applications e.g. Ms Word, Excel etc.

  • Excellent report writing skills.

  • Have strong interpersonal and communications skills-fluent in English and Swahili (oral and written).

  • Experience working in informal settlements.

  • Must be available full time for training and during the entire study period.
