AMREF Senior Technical Lead Jobs in Ethiopia; The Senior Technical Lead Health Entrepreneurship role requires a proactive and community‑oriented professional who demonstrates strong facilitation skills, practical entrepreneurship knowledge, and the ability to translate business concepts into accessible and actionable learning for community participants.
Key Responsibilities
Community Enterprise Development
Develop and implement plans, tools and methodologies to support health entrepreneurship and business opportunities at community level.
Identify and support initiatives that promote local entrepreneurship opportunities among CHWs, WDA, MDA, and VHL.
Facilitate development of community‑based enterprise ideas linked to health services and community needs.
Support engagement with local SACCOs and cooperative groups to promote sustainable business opportunities.
Entrepreneurship Capacity Building
Facilitate training and mentorship activities focused on entrepreneurship skills including business proposal development, financial literacy, and business planning.
Support participants in conducting basic market analysis and feasibility assessments.
Assist in strengthening financial and business management skills among programme participants.
Support stakeholder policy engagement initiatives, including with youth, to address gaps within the health entrepreneurship pillar.
Business Development Support
Provide practical guidance to programme participants in developing viable business proposals and enterprise plans.
Support identification of local market opportunities that align with community health needs.
Assist in linking community entrepreneurs to available resources, cooperatives, and financial services.
Cross‑cutting Digital Literacy Support
Work closely with the Digital Health Specialist to support digital literacy initiatives.
Facilitate the use of digital tools and platforms that support entrepreneurship training and learning.
Contribute to cross‑pillar collaboration that strengthens both digital learning and entrepreneurship initiatives.
Pre‑service Entrepreneurship Integration
Support collaboration with colleges and training institutions to introduce entrepreneurship concepts within pre‑service health training programmes.
Coordinate activities that expose students to entrepreneurship opportunities prior to entering the workforce.
Support alignment between Health Employment and Health Entrepreneurship pillar activities.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
Maintain organised documentation related to entrepreneurship training activities.
Support monitoring and evaluation processes to assess programme progress and impact.
Lead in documenting and disseminating achievements, best practices, and lessons learned.
Conduct and apply research to inform implementation of best practices.
Track participation, enterprise development activities, and programme progress.
Contribute to documentation of programme learning and operational insights.
People and Performance
Contribute to a collaborative and accountable programme environment.
Demonstrate initiative and reliability in supporting entrepreneurship training.
Support effective collaboration between programme teams, colleges, community leaders, and government stakeholders.
Model Amref’s values and safeguarding commitments.
Compliance and Safeguarding
Support adherence to Amref’s safeguarding, compliance, and operational policies.
Ensure programme documentation and processes comply with donor requirements.
Report any safeguarding concerns or operational risks.
Key Performance Indicators (Success Measures)
Effective community entrepreneurship development.
Entrepreneurship training and mentorship delivered consistently.
Successful collaboration with local Cooperatives and SACCOs.
Effective cross‑pillar collaboration.
Operational efficiency in workshops and programme events.
Programme documentation and information management.
Qualifications – Job Requirements
7–9 years of experience in social enterprise, international development, or mission‑driven organisations, with at least 5 years at Supervisory level.
Master’s degree in Economics, Health System Management, Business Administration, or related social science.
Project Management certification (PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent) is an added advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Exposure to gender‑responsive or inclusive employment models.
Demonstrable experience supporting entrepreneurship initiatives, livelihood programmes, or community development projects.
Experience supporting capacity building, mentoring, or business training activities is an added advantage.
Experience working with volunteer community health workers, local training institutions, or health workforce development initiatives is desirable.
Must be an Ethiopian citizen, legal resident or possess work authorization documents.
