Amref Health Africa was officially founded in 1957 to deliver mobile health services and to provide mission hospitals with surgical support.

A medical radio network was developed to coordinate the service, and provide communication.

Main purpose of job:-

Provision of quality patient care within the ART project as well as maintains, Standards of Nursing Practice that promote optimum health care delivery to all patients.

Principal Responsibilities

Key Area Activities

Planning & Strategy

  • Developing personal and on site timely and regularly reviewed
    implementation work plans and linking them with SCMOH plans.
  • Develop /adopt relevant materials to support the project.
  • Select, coordinate and facilitate trainings.
  • Guide and teach nursing students and interns on clinical practice
    Adult and Paediatric Management
  • Enrolment
  • Adherence counselling and follow-up
  • Treatment preparation
  • HIV Testing Services (HCT)
  • Identifying clients for testing in respective department.
  • Performing HCT
  • Provision of Psychological counselling to clients
  • TB Services
  • Enrolling, counselling and follow up of patients
  • Implementing DOTs
  • Maintaining all patients records
  • Health education
  • Procurement of TB drugs, supplies and commodities
  • Supervision of CHWS and support staff
    MCH Services
  • PMTCT interventions
  • Vaccination
  • Growth monitoring
  • Antenatal care
  • Health education
  • Family planning interventions

    Key Area Activities

  • Counselling
  • Cervical Cancer Screening
  • Sensitization of clients/patients
  • Performing VIA/VILLI
  • Referral
    Maternity Services
  • Assessment of clients at the maternity
  • Management of a mother during labour, delivery and postnatal
  • Referral of complicated cases
  • Supervision of CHWS and support staff
    Out Patient
  • Triaging of patients at the facility
  • Assisting and performing procedures
  • Drugs administration
  • Supervision of CHWS
    and support staff
  • Fast tracking and providing OPD services to
    Memberships & Committees
  • Pharmacy and therapeutic committee
  • Project Quality Improvement committee
  • Facility multidisciplinary team

    Required Qualifications

    Education (academic and professional)

  • Diploma in Community Health Nursing,; higher diploma or degree is desirable
  • Training in HIV Testing and Counseling
  • Registered with relevant professional body
  • Valid current practicing license

    Experience

  • 3 years in a similar setup
  • Implementation of PMTCT services
  • Hands on experience/exposure in activity implementation
  • Experience in working in informal settlement in a similar position will be an added advantage

    Work Environment

  • Normal office environment.
  • 6 Hours of Work
  • Normal working hours as per Amref guidelines and regulations. Job holder may be required to work outside normal working hours due to the nature of the work in general.
