Amref Kenya Director, Information, Communication & Technology Jobs in Kenya;This position provides strategic leadership and enterprise‑wide oversight of ICT as a critical business enabler, ensuring information technology initiatives drive digital health impact, organisational agility, operational efficiency and data‑driven decision‑making aligned with Amref Health Africa’s mission.

The role oversees enterprise and network architecture, digital transformation, cloud and data platforms, cybersecurity, ICT service management and business systems, while embedding modern delivery models, innovation and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & ICT Governance

Provide strategic leadership for all ICT functions, fostering innovation, agility and continuous improvement.

Lead development and review of ICT strategy aligned with Amref’s mission and objectives.

Advise executive leadership on digital transformation, emerging technologies and ICT investments.

Define current and future ICT requirements with user functions and support implementation.

ICT Policy, Standards & Compliance

Develop and maintain ICT policies, standards and procedures to maximise effectiveness and minimise costs.

Ensure compliance with international data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).

Safeguard IT assets and ensure integrity, security and privacy of information.

Digital Transformation, Data & Innovation

Drive enterprise digital and AI‑enabled transformation initiatives.

Lead automation, data, analytics and AI initiatives including platform modernization.

Champion adoption of AI, machine learning and emerging technologies.

Operational Excellence & Service Delivery

Oversee enterprise architecture, ICT service management, business systems and ERP solutions.

Ensure reliability, scalability and security of ICT infrastructure.

Provide oversight of enterprise data platforms and digital health systems.

Financial Management & Resource Optimisation

Develop and monitor ICT budgets aligned with corporate strategy.

Drive cost optimisation through vendor management and cloud cost governance.

Track and report ICT investment benefits and ROI.

Capacity Building & Stakeholder Engagement

Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing ICT team.

Promote knowledge management and digital literacy across the organisation.

Provide expert ICT support to country programmes and regional offices.

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

Ensure robust

cybersecurity, data privacy and compliance controls.

Manage risk assessments, audits and regulatory requirements.

Establish business continuity and resilience strategies.

Continuous Improvement & Reporting

Review system applications and infrastructure, recommending improvements.

Present regular reports to executive management on ICT performance, risks and opportunities.

Qualifications

Academic Qualifications

Master’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, ICT or related field preferred.

Proficiency in French is an added advantage.

Professional Qualifications/Memberships

Relevant certifications (ITIL, CCNA, MCSA, MCSD, TOGAF).

Membership in a recognised professional body.

Experience

Over twelve (12) years of relevant experience, with eight (8) years in management and two (2) at senior management level.

In lieu of a Master’s, fifteen (15) years of relevant experience, with ten (10) years in management and five (5) at senior management level.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

Strong background in AI, digital transformation and innovation.

Proven experience deploying AI responsibly across organisations.

Deep knowledge of IT systems, networks, cloud platforms and cybersecurity.

Strong financial stewardship and sustainability principles.

Effective collaboration with executives, technical teams and stakeholders.

Commitment to ethics, governance, accountability, equity, diversity and inclusion.
