Amref Health Africa was officially founded in 1957 to deliver mobile health services and to provide mission hospitals with surgical support.

A medical radio network was developed to coordinate the service, and provide communication.

Amref International University (AMIU) is an accredited institution of higher learning
focused on health sciences and is fully owned by Amref Health Africa.

The University is founded on the experience and intellect of Amref Health Africa, which is reputed with over 60 years of quality and innovative community health, health systems management and
development interventions.

Its predecessor, the Amref International Training Centre (AITC) has shaped Public and Community Health training and nurtured health leaders and practitioners in Africa for over 40 years.

The vision of AMIU is to be a leading Health Sciences University of excellence in developing
transformational health leaders and practitioners who inspire lasting health change in Africa.

It is located along Langata Road (opposite Wilson Airport), Nairobi, Kenya.

Main purpose of the job

  • The Amref International University was granted Letter of Interim Authority on 1st August
    2017.
  • The role of the university is to provide holistic quality education in health science and
    related disciplines.
  • The university is seeking to fill the position of Registrar – Administration, Planning and Development.
  • The job holder is responsible for ensuring proper functioning and coordination of all departments.

    Key responsibilities

  • Administration of University resources (human and capital).
  • Planning for efficient utilisation of resources.
  • Overseeing planning and development of university’s capital assets.
  • Overseeing
    development and review of university policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Overseeing the university’s administrative system.\

    Qualification and experience

  • Master’s Degree with specialties in Law, Human Resources, Strategy, Finance or other related discipline.
  • Have worked in a university as a Deputy Registrar or equivalent for 5 years.
  • Evidence of development of university policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Drafting and negotiation of collaborations – Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs), contracts, agreements

    Competence

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven problem solving, organization and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Attributes of methodical planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring and
    evaluation.
