Responsibilities


Leadership and coordination


  • Provide overall leadership and project management through co-ordination and
    supervision of the implementation of project activities.
  • Working with project team, coordinate provision of PITC, adult and paediatric
    HIV treatment, care and support, integrated TB / HIV services, and PMTCT services in health facilities and among communities targeted by the project

    Human Resource management

  • Foster development of vibrant and winning project teams;
  • Identify staff development needs and provide coaching and mentoring, as
    well as link to training and development opportunities, to spur performance;
  • Identify career growth plans for reportees and support their movement along
    career paths;
  • Proactively identify appropriate training/capacity building opportunities for
    reportees that are in line with their performance plans and organization
    objectives;
  • Identify and manage internal conflict through appropriate resolution
    mechanisms, where necessary involving the

    Program Manager and Human Resources Unit
    Financial and Administrative


  • Facilitate timely procurement of goods and services for projects
  • Ensure the project submit annual and quarterly procurement plans in
    accordance with budgets and donor/Amref procurement rules and regulations
  • Prepare operational budgets in conjunction with project teams, programme
    accountant, and the Finance Manager to ensure value for money
  • In consultation with Program Accountant, conduct regular reviewing operations financial performance against set targets, and implementation of remedial actions
  • Budget monitoring to ensure expenditure in line with set budgets and in accordance with donor and Amref financial rules and regulations

    M&E and Reporting

  • Lead in the preparation of work plans, budgets, M&E plans and performance
    frameworks for the project.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reports relating to the
    project as per donor requirements as well as for internal purposes.
  • Together with the M/E officer, carry out monitoring and evaluation of project
    activities to ensure project objectives are met
  • Capacity building Facilitate capacity building activities for the project implementation team, community structures, DHMT and other stakeholders.

    Operations Research

  • Lead in operations research, documentation and share results for advocacy in order to influence relevant policies and practices.
  • Document and disseminate best practices and lessons learnt.
  • Provide leadership
    in identification of relevant policy issues within the project
    and supporting policy advocacy action/process, in liaison with the Program Manager and Advocacy Unit

    Partnerships and stakeholder management

  • Develop and promote partnerships and networking with relevant stakeholders
    including but not limited to local authorities, relevant Government of Kenya Ministries and NGOs and CDC
  • Represent Amref in partners and collaborators consultative meetings including
    ICCs and relevant Technical working groups

    Programme development

  • Ensure project integration and growth by participating in country office and
    program meetings.
  • Provide technical support in development of concepts and proposals, and for research and documentation activities Organization

    of internal environment where staff adheres to the values of Amref


    Required Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate should have a minimum of a Masters Degree in Public Health or
    relevant Social Sciences discipline with
  • A first degree in Medicine will be an added advantage.
  • Over five (5) years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with PEPFAR related activities will be an added advantage.
  • Must have hands on experience in project management related to HIV/AIDS with an
    emphasis on ART management.
  • Should have vast experience in project management, operations research &
    documentation, monitoring & evaluation, people management, networking, proposal
    development, budget and financial management.
  • Experience in a busy health NGO will be an added advantage

    Work Environment

  • Based at Kibera Amref Health Africa Health Centre.

    Hours of Work

  • Normal working hours as per Amref guidelines and regulations. Job holder may be required to work outside normal working hours due to the nature of the work in general
