Amref Health Africa in Kenya Deputy Chief of Party/ Service Delivery Technical Advisor Employment Opportunities

Responsibilities

  • Convene weekly/ monthly management conference calls with County Coordinators (CCs) to monitor project implementation technical leadership role in coordination with GOK and other partners and works closely with the M&E Advisor
  • Coordinates among USAID and key stakeholders and other implementing
    partners and interacts with numerous GOK institutions and representatives, particularly at county/ facility level.

    Administrative and Financial oversight

  • Work with CCs to ensure field teams understand and consistently adhere to Amref Health Africa (Amref) rules and regulations
  • Review and approve field activity budgets to ensure value for money and that they are in line with Amref and USAID requirements
  • Work with CCs and FM to develop and monitor expenditure of operational budgets to support field activities
  • Support field teams to ensure they receive logistical support for project implementation as necessary
  • Facilitate timely procurement of goods and services for field teams

    Human Resources Management

  • Foster recruitment and development of vibrant field teams where the CCs provide effective leadership
  • Proactively identify appropriate training/ capacity building opportunities for CCs and other Officers that are in line with their performance plans and organization objectives
  • Identify and manage internal conflict through appropriate resolution mechanisms, where necessary involving the COP and Human

    Resources Manager Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Contribute to the consolidation of the Annual Project Workplans,
    including the Performance Monitoring Plan
  • Receive and collate monthly reports from the CCs
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of the quarterly performance
    and annual reports to the donor

    Provide technical support and guidance to project

  • Participate in relevant technical working groups and committees, provide feedback and develop networks to support project implementation
  • Work with technical team leads to monitor implementation of activities to meet set national standards and targets ensuring quality and integration of activities. Ensures technical excellence in program implementation

    Qualifications

  • Minimum of Medical degree and a Master’s Degree in public health or a related field..
  • Knowledge of strategic planning, administrative, and financial management systems.
  • Knowledge of public health related issues.
  • Knowledgeable about current implementation science and state-of-the-art delivery
    Deputy Chief of Party approaches.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience and demonstrated leadership working with USAID
    or other donor-funded projects.
  • Seven years as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager managing complex, donorfunded
    development programs, preferably in health.
  • Extensive field experience in Africa, including long-term residence in one or more
    countries.
  • A clear track record in provision of technical assistance of similar complexity and
    magnitude to the one being procured
  • Design, implementation, and managing of public health/ international development
    programs funded by US government or other international donors.

    Amref Health Africa in Kenya Training Officer – Health Worker Education and Training Employment Opportunities

    Responsibilities

    Project management

  • Lead the execution of the Learnership and Training activities, to ensure successful implementation of the program
  • Monitor opportunities for future learnership programmes in alignment with organisation requirements
  • Monitor and continually review progress of learners as
    per the Learnership program requirements ensuring that all milestones are met within set deadlines
  • Ensure that facilitators, assessors and moderators understand the scope of work and timely delivery to ensure effective execution of the Learnership program

    Partnership management and Business Development

  • Coordinate the relationship between Quality Council for Trades and Occupations QCTO, Sector
    Education and Training Agencies (SETAs), Amref, Universities and any other training providers
  • Coordinate any SETA led initiatives including Learner-ships, workplace skills opportunities and pivotal
    programmes
  • Communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on all skills development & learner-ships to deliver elegant people solutions
  • Work closely with Programs and Enterprises to maximise fundraising opportunities for Skills Training in South Africa

    Reporting and Compliance Management

  • Track and report on training activities on a monthly basis
  • Monitor and report on expenditures in skills development for BBBEE requirements
  • Spearhead the development and implementation of learnership and training plans Develop and update training materials;

    Qualifications

  • Degree in Education/Training, preferably within the health sciences, health development or health promotion.
  • 5 + years of Practical experience of management of health worker training, teaching or training
  • Demonstrable experience in working with the Health and Welfare SETA HWSETA and SAQA Accreditation processes
  • Qualifications and practical experience of facilitating, assessing and moderating health worker training.
  • Theoretical and practical experience in using e/m learning
  • Experience in adult teaching/training (participatory teaching methods) in health development, community-based health care or primary health care is essential.
  • Progressive experience (track record) of project management
  • Excellent communication, organizational and reporting skills, team player, trustworthy and responsible.

    Responsibilities

  • Posting transactions in the accounting system (maintenance of the general ledger.
  • Preparation of bank reconciliations
  • Maintenance of petty cash
  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register
  • Handle bank withdraws and deposits
  • Prepare on-line banking payments for approval
  • Assist in handling audits e.g submitting supporting documents as requested by auditors.
  • Checking field trips expense liquidations, and ensure that any cash not spent is deposited on time.
  • File supporting documents in logical order
  • Receive and process all invoices, expense forms and requests for payment.
  • General administrative duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma in Finance or Accounting.
  • 3 years of progressive work experience, preferably donor funded projects.
  • Proficient in use of software packages, specifically the SUN Accounting system is a MUST
  • Excellent communication, organizational and reporting skills, team player, trustworthy and responsible.
  • Excellent knowledge and skills of SAGE accounting package is a MUST.
  • Good organization and administrative skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
