Job Description

  • Amref Health Africa, headquartered in Kenya, is the largest Africa based international non-governmental organization (NGO) currently running programs in over 35 countries in Africa with lessons learnt over 60 years of engagement with governments, communities and partners to increase sustainable health access in Africa.

  • Amref Health Africa also incorporates programme development, fundraising, partnership, advocacy, monitoring and evaluation, and has offices in Europe and North America as well as subsidiaries; Amref Flying Doctors, Amref Enterprises and the Amref International University.

  • Amref Health Africa has been active in Ethiopia since the 1960s and became fully operational as an international NGO in 2002.

  • We are currently seeking a consultant firm who can work on market assessment for the Digital learning solution project.

    Research objectives and questions

  • Health system context: Gain a thorough understanding of the health system in Ethiopia, specifically related to low-and mid-level health workers (HEWs, nurses, midwives)

  • Health education system context: Gain a thorough understanding of the health education system in Ethiopia, specifically related to health science colleges and Universities that used to train low-and mid-level trainees (HEWs, nurses, midwives)

  • Health professional context: identify the needs of health workers (HEWs, nurses, midwives), as they will be the main users of the platform

  • Digital learning market: what is the market appetite for digital learning solutions in the healthcare sector in Ethiopia?

  • Technology setup context: Assess whether the technical requirements to use digital learning solutions effectively are met

  • Organizational context: Do
    we have access to the skills that are needed to roll out digital learning solutions successfully?

  • Economic and political context: Identify the key risks and limiting factors resulting from the current economic and political context

    Job Requirements

  • Consulting firms are invited to indicate their interest in conducting the market assessment analysis.

    Consultants should meet the following qualifications:

  • PhD, MSc/MA in social sciences, health, development studies or relevant fields.
    Significant experience working in Health work force, Mobile and E-health assessment and evaluation (Market assessment, baseline surveys, impact research, use of participatory techniques), and qualitative research and analysis.

  • Outstanding data collection, research and writing skills.

  • Proven track record on conducting analyses surveys/studies (at least two similar studies), including qualitative analyses.

  • Should be VAT Register

  • Knowledge of Technology and Human resource for Health system is an advantage

  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in both English and local language

  • Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
