Duties and Responsibilities

• Relay departure, arrival, delay, aircraft and airfield status, and other pertinent information to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and medical team and both sub-charter and AMREF flights
• Conduct departure and arrival briefings to crew as well communicate relevant information to patients or those accompanying them.
• Implement airfield safety procedures to ensure a safe operating environment for personnel and aircraft operation.
• Maintain air-to-ground and point-to-point radio contact with aircraft commanders.
• Monitor the arrival, parking, refuelling, loading, and departure of both sub-charter and AMREF flights
• Procure, produce, and provide information on the safe operation of aircraft, such as flight planning publications, operations publications, charts and maps, and weather information.
• Provide both sub-charter and AMREF aircrew with information and services needed for airfield
management and flight planning.
• Coordinate with the applicable agencies to meet aircrew requirements for refuelling, ground services,
crew transportation and accommodation.
• In conjunction with the Flight Operations Officer and medical team answer telephones and respond to operational queries as required to the satisfaction of AFD clients.
• Ensure data entry of all relevant flight information into the company database system as well as post flight filing of flight operations documents, for monitoring purposes by the Operations Manager and Chief Pilot as required by the regulato

Qualification

• Diploma in Flight Operations/Dispatch Be ICT proficient.
• Current KCAA Flight Operations (FOO) License
• Knowledge in radio communication,
• 3-4 consecutive years of work experience in a flight operations department
• Excellent communicator with good command of English language
• Team player, organised with ability to plan effectively, multitask and work under minimum
supervision
• Knowledge in IT skills

Essential:

• Knowledge of KCAA Regulations to enable one comply with aviation industry regulations
• Knowledge of IATA policies to enable one comply with international aviation rules
• KAA Policies to help understand the airport rules
• Knowledge of ICAO policies to enable one comply with international navigation rules
• Basic knowledge in First Aid

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall credible leadership to the AFYA TIMIZA programme, providing clear vision, and inspiring confidence and team spirit among programme staff.
    • Provide targeted technical assistance to projects through field visits and other methods
    to foster continuous improvement in quality& both programmatic and financial performance (will spend 50% of time in field based technical assistance).
    • Ensure projects are aligned with and contribute to Amref Business Plan and National strategies, policies, operational guidelines, and protocols, as applicable.
    • Quality assure all operational plans for projects to ensure they are realistic.
    • Identify underperforming individuals and work with HR manager to ensure they are put on performance improvement plans and supported.
    • Carrying out periodic and annual performance appraisals and provide on-going performance monitoring and feedback.
    • Facilitate timely procurement of goods and services for projects.
    • Ensure projects being supervised submit annual and quarterly procurement plans in accordance with budgets and donor/Amref procurement rules and regulations
    • Review operational budgets in conjunction with project teams, programme accountant, and the Finance Manager to ensure value for money.
    • Providing support to project teams in reviewing operations financial performance against set targets, and implementation of remedial actions.
    • Budget monitoring to ensure expenditure in line with set budgets and in accordance with donor and Amref financial rules and regulations
    • Foster development of
    vibrant teams in projects, so that project teams grow into ‘winning teams’ where project managers provide effective leadership.
    • Identify staff development needs and provide coaching and mentoring, as well as link to training and development opportunities, to spur performance.
    • Identify career growth plans for reportees and support their movement along career paths through mentoring.
    • Proactively identify appropriate training/capacity building opportunities for reportees that are in line with their performance plans and organization objectives.
    • Identify and manage internal conflict through appropriate resolution mechanisms, where necessary involving the Human Resources Manager

    Required Qualifications

    Education (academic and professional as per Amref Health Africa not what you hold)
    • At least a Master’s Degree in Health, Social Services, Management, Business Administration or related field.

    Experience (number of years as per Amref Health Africa)

    • At least ten years’ experience in managing complex public health programs or programs of similar scope and size.
    • At least ten years of demonstrated technical experience as senior staff in at least two of the following areas: maternal, newborn and child health; family planning/reproductive health; nutrition; quality improvement/quality assurance; health systems strengthening; M&E; and operations research.
    • At least seven years’ experience in development, managing, overseeing, or evaluating public health programs in Africa of similar size and complexity.
    • At least seven years’ experience in program management and administration, financial management, award contractual compliance, sub award management, and tracking project performance and costs via specific funding streams.

    Amref Flying Doctors Coordinator - Amref Health Africa Leadership Academy - Jobs in Kenya

    Main purpose of the job

    The position holder will be responsible for the overall strategic development, direction, coordination, and implementation of Amref Health Africa’s Health Leadership Academy initiatives, in particular, training in Leadership, Management and Governance (LMG) through the Partnership for Health Systems Strengthening in Africa (PHSSA) project.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead in the establishment of the Amref Health Leadership Academy;
  • Lead the scoping, planning and fundraising activities;
  • Lead in the development of the Academy’s Strategic Plan;
  • Identify and assess future and current LMG training Needs;
  • Manage Academy and projects’ annual budgets and plans;
  • Monitor and evaluate effectiveness, success and Return on Investment (ROI)
  • Prepare and present reports to management and other stakeholders;
  • Lead in the development, implementation and review of LMG curricula and training materials;
  • Supervise Academy staff, trainers and project staff;
  • Facilitate training in Leadership, Management and Governance;
  • Coordinate and mobilise resources for the Africa Health Leadership and Management Network
    (AHLMN).

    Qualifications & Knowledge
