AMREF Flying Doctors Captain Jobs in Kenya

AMREF Flying Doctors is seeking to fill the positions of a Captain. The position is based in Nairobi reporting to the Chief Pilot. The job holder is a flight crew on AMREF Flying Doctors’ aircraft and aero-medical missions while observing the highest safety standards in accordance with AMREF Flying Doctors Operating Manuals and Kenya Civil Aviation Authority Regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Act as flight crew on all AMREF Flying Doctors flights which include medical evacuations, outreach flights and any other flights with the highest of safety standards;
  • Ensuring that AMREF operates and complies with all laws, rules and regulations of all authorities of each country in which it operates;
  • Assisting the Chief Pilots’ office in matters related to flight operations including flight missions in the areas of operation.
  • Performing functional checks or maintenance test flights when and as required.
  • Providing assistance to the medical crew during medical evacuations as necessary
  • And other duties as may be required.

    Required Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Kenyan Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL) with multi engine instrument rating
  • Minimum of 2,500 hours total flying experience
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours Pilot In Command time;
  • Minimum of 800 hours on turbine engine aircraft
  • Minimum of 100 hours of night flying
  • 200 hours on multi engine aircraft
  • 100 hours as Pilot in Command time on either PC12 or BE20 or B190.
  • Minimum 1 year flying experience in remote airstrips in Eastern Africa region
  • PC12 valid rating is an added advantage
  • Knowledge in trend and
    monitoring systems both in maintenance and operations.
  • Knowledge of IT skills
  • Knowledge of Kenyan Civil Aviation Regulations (KCARs) and international aviation requirements
  • Knowledge in aviation operations management and quality system is an added advantage
  • Good command of English language both oral and written
  • Professional work ethics and integrity
  • Problem solving and decision making ability
  • High degree of discipline and teamwork
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure.

  • Time management
