Based in Nairobi, AMREF Flying Doctors provides Air Ambulance services locally, regionally and internationally. With up to 800 evacuations per year and international accreditation by EURAMI, AMREF Flying Doctors has become the leading Air Ambulance provider in the region, operating at the highest professional level.

The income generated supports Amref Health Africa’s work, in particularly the Outreach Programme and Charity Evacuations.

To provide transportation services and logistical support by ensuring all authorized passengers are taken to their respective destinations safely and securely and in a timely manner. The vehicles/ambulances are
to be kept clean, well maintained and ambulances fitted and arranged with proper equipment ready for use.

Responsibilities

  • Providing efficient ground ambulance
  • Ensuring that staff and deliveries are taken to their destinations in a timely, safe and secure manner.
  • Keeping the vehicle in good working condition
  • Ensuring that the vehicle is always kept clean
  • Ensuring the safety of passengers and vehicle at all times
  • Ensuring that the vehicle are always kept clean

    Qualifications

  • Secondary School certificate with
    good spoken English and Kiswahili
  • Must have passed the driver’s test
  • Good general understanding of the different vehicle parts/vehicle care maintenance
  • Good understanding of the local laws applicable to driving emergency vehicles
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Knowledge in Basic First Aid, training in advance and defensive driving with current certificates and any aviation knowledge/understanding would be good and added advantage
  • 4-6 year year’s working experience as an ambulance driver with good track record
  • Able to work in a 24 hour environment and maintain a positive enthusiastic attitude
