American International Health Alliance Technical Director, DREAMS Project Jobs in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Manage on-the-ground implementation of activities in collaboration with AIHA’s sub-partner in Homa Bay, Siaya and Migori counties to ensure quality implementation per the DREAMS
    guidance
  • Provide on-going technical assistance (TA) through trainings, mentoring and support to subpartner staff working on the project. TA will focus on the package of evidence-based
    interventions covering school-based HIV prevention programming, social asset building, gender-based violence, HIV/AIDS Testing and Counselling, and community mobilization and norms change interventions among others
  • Supervise the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Manager and county-based Program Coordinators to ensure proper technical implementation of the programs across counties and oversee program monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities including quality and timely reporting per the DREAMS M&E guidance to ensure data is properly captured and reported
  • Work to build the capacity of project staff and provide mentorship during training of layworkers such as local school faculty (MLRC), mentors, community change agents (CCA), civil
    society organizations (CSO), community-based organizations (CBO), and partner institutions
    as applicable
  • Work with AIHA/HQ staff and Kenyan partners to develop and maintain program work plans,
    making changes and updates as appropriate
  • Assist partners with the development, editing, finalization, and packaging of program
    curriculum, reports and materials
  • Coordinate higher-level trainings alongside the sub-partner program management team to
    ensure the capacity and proper implementation of all activities are in place
  • Keep up to date on all DREAMS program activities and maintain close contact with other
    DREAMS partners and collaborators
  • Represent AIHA at U.S. Government implementing partner (IP) meetings and CDC quarterly
    review meetings to present project progress reports
  • Serve as an information source on program policies, procedures, and administration guidelines
  • Participate in AIHA’s business development initiatives as needed and applicable to the Kenya
    and/or global programs, including support in coordination of new AIHA initiatives within Kenya
  • Complete other duties as applicable and assigned

    Qualifications

  • MSc. or MA. in
    Social Work, Public Health, Gender Studies, or International
    Development, with eight (8) years’ relevant work experience, or BS or BA in Social
    Work, Public Health, Gender Studies, or International Development with at least
    ten (10) years’ relevant work experience; social protection and HIV/AIDS program
    experience required
  • Extensive knowledge of or experience in program management and support procedures
  • Commitment to understanding and responding to the most urgent needs and rights of vulnerable youth and HIV/AIDS positive children and their families
  • Proven ability to implement multidimensional projects with a focus on OVC, Social
    Protection and HIV/AIDS, with a focus on areas such as youth HIV prevention programs, social asset building, gender-based violence, HIV testing and counselling
  • Experience with U.S. Government donor compliance and reporting
  • Ability to develop and maintain close relationships with various stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse coworkers and project participants
  • Self-starter and strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Financial management and M & E experience
  • Effective and diplomatic communicator at all levels
  • Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • English and Swahili fluency is essential, Luo fluency preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,
    Access) and the Internet
  • Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally as needed
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, set
    priorities, work independently and in a team environment
