Amentum Elevator Mechanic Jobs in Kenya
Duties
Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority.
Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals.
Locate and determine causes of trouble in brakes, motors, switches, and signal/control systems using test equipment.
Disassemble defective units and repair or replace parts including locks, gears, cables, and faulty safety devices.
Lubricate bearings and other parts to minimize friction.
Install or repair transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or specifications to locate and diagnose trouble.
Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with published schedules and warranties.
Conduct tests of equipment using voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, continuity testers, feeler gauges, frequency counters, and other tools of the trade.
Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Required
Experience with working sketches, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturers’ manuals.
Knowledge of applicable European and/or US Electrical Codes and acceptable trade practices.
Familiarity with annual maintenance requirements of electrical and mechanical systems.
Desired
Experience with Otis GEN2 MRL Elevators highly desirable.
Previous out‑of‑country experience and work in harsh environmental conditions a plus.
Experience working with Amentum preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of principles and processes involved in operating and maintaining elevators at an overseas facility.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to work in

Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
Ability to be innovative and an agent for change.

Work Environment, Physical and Mental Demands
Regularly required to stand, use hands, talk, or hear.
Frequently required to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in tiring positions.
Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, taste, or smell.
Frequently lifts 15–25 lbs; occasionally over 45 lbs.
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, vibration.
Occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes, outside weather, extreme cold, and electrical shock risk.
Noise level usually loud; employees must question nonstandard operations and provide feedback on safety issues.
