Amazima Ministries Family Mentors Jobs in Uganda



Reporting to the Dean of Student Life, Family Mentors are to create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and caring family environment to meet the emotional, personal, educational, and daily needs of the children for whom they are responsible in the context of a healthy, growing, Christ-centered marriage.


Responsibilities


Personal

  • To set an example of servant leadership, use biblical principles to resolve disputes, speaks to edify and encourage, and demonstrates faithful obedience to God.
  • To model positive and mature Christian, social, educational, emotional, and to lead by example.
  • To live out a biblically sound marriage reflecting Christ and His Church.
  • To leverage personal gifts and skills where applicable to support the mission of The Amazima School.

    Environment

  • Family Mentors will strive to reflect the heart of The Amazima School mission to shape Ugandan students to know and honor God and to desire to serve him with all their heart, mind, and soul.
  • Family Mentors will endeavor to create a safe, nurturing, and caring environment.
  • Family Mentors will enrich students’ lives by providing moral, spiritual, and educational guidance and counsel.
  • Family Mentors will create an environment of trust, discipline, consistency, emotional support, mutual respect, transparency, and accountability
  • Work closely with their Ugandan Family Mentor teammate to execute all duties and responsibilities including but not limited to the following:

    Lead daily family devotions.

  • Assign and supervise daily house/campus chores.
  • Supervise and assist with daily homework as needed.
  • Conduct regular family meetings.
  • Implement established Student Life discipline strategy.
  • Interface with teachers regarding academic issues.
  • Participate and lead family in planned community service
  • Be engaged with students during work hours.
  • Engage in structured group activities and fellowship with other Family Mentors.
    Families
  • Develop
    quality relationships with the guardians of the students in the home.
  • Visit families of students in their homes, along with Ugandan Family Mentor Partner, twice a term.


    Requirements


  • Must be a committed Christian who is in full agreement with the Statement of Faith of The Amazima School.
  • Professional and personal references must demonstrate observed manifestation of godly character and spiritual maturity.
  • Must be committed to the mission of The Amazima School and willing to make a minimum two-year commitment.
  • Must have or gain an understanding of the classical, Christian, and community approach to education adopted by The Amazima School.
  • Prefer a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a college or university.
  • Be involved in a legal, stable marriage (having children is not required to be a Family Mentor).
  • Be the parents of no more than two children living in the home.
  • Accompanying children must be at least 9 years old.
  • Must enjoy being around high school-age students and preferred to have experience in student ministry.
  • Be in good health, energetic, and have high energy.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively in a team environment.
