Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Nutrition Services Manager Calgary Zone and working with the leadership of zone and provincial Population and Public Health, the Rural North, Public Health Dietitian provides nutrition expertise in a variety of areas. This includes supporting Public Health professionals, internal/external stakeholders, and clients through a variety of models: using health promotion/population strategies (e.g. strengthening community action, advising and supporting implementation of healthy public policy, promoting supportive environments and developing personal health skills), and building capacity (education and training support) of staff or other key internal and external stakeholders.
The Public Health Dietitian conducts evidence reviews and delivers consistent, accurate, evidence-based nutrition information for the whole population across the lifespan or for specific subsets of the population within their communities. Individual nutrition counselling may be provided. Experience with leading and facilitating groups. Demonstrated excellence and effectiveness in verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of population public health nutrition including a sound understanding of nutrition across the lifespan. Strong networking and communication skills to be able to develop and sustain positive community partnerships. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and internal and external stakeholders as a team. This is a day position with occasional evening work required.
Description:
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans.
You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.
