Airtel Passive System Engineer Jobs in Nigeria
Responsibilities
Manage day‑to‑day operations of Airtel sites (DC & BTS), passive and power O&M, upgrades, fueling and diesel delivery.
Provide end‑to‑end operational support for power network and infrastructure across Core, IN, VAS, BSS and Transmission domains.
Plan and implement maintenance schedules for passive equipment across BTS, BSC, Transmission, MSC and Data Centers.
Conduct preventive maintenance audits, tracking and compliance monitoring.
Coordinate replacement, upgrade and installation of power equipment (DGs, AC/HVAC, rectifiers, batteries, transformers, stabilizers, panels, UPS, fire systems).
Manage passive spares requests and replacements to ensure availability.
Resolve passive alarms and crises from emergencies or failures.
Provide incident management recommendations and follow‑up.
Support design changes to specifications and standards for preventive/corrective maintenance.
Plan and manage monthly diesel fuel requirements for all sites.
Monitor and manage energy cost drivers (diesel CPH, DG run hours, EB availability, tariffs, vendor performance).
Develop BOQs, support RFQ/RFP preparation and evaluation.
Review and validate invoices, payments and job close‑out documentation.
Manage acceptance and sign‑off of ATPs, JCCs and warranty certificates.
Prepare and manage annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets for passive systems.
Track spend against budgets and report performance to senior management.
Drive energy OPEX savings through cost optimization initiatives.
Ensure compliance with operational procedures, policies and standards.
Define SLAs for passive infrastructure contracts and monitor performance.
Develop and manage process documentation for repairs, replacements and maintenance.
Maintain passive equipment database and conduct audits.
Ensure regulatory compliance with power equipment specifications and environmental standards.
Manage partner contracts and vendor governance for power infrastructure deployment and maintenance.
Coordinate operational reporting (DG swaps, diesel deliveries, PHCN, hybrid systems).
Qualifications
First degree in a related field.
Minimum 8 years’ varied experience in
telecom power O&M.
Knowledge of telecom architecture, mobile network O&M, MSC and Data Center passive equipment.
Expertise in electrical power systems: rectifiers, batteries, inverters, UPS, generators, panels, transformers, stabilizers, grid systems, HVAC, surge protection, earthing, fire systems, hybrid/solar power.
Ability to develop and interpret M&E drawings.
Project management skills; proficiency in MS Office.
AutoCAD skills for single line diagrams.
Strong analytical, presentation and negotiation skills.
Ability to manage site databases and outsourcing partners.
