AICAD is a Regional International Institution whose main mandate is poverty reduction through human resource capacity development. The Institute is jointly funded by the Governments of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

AICAD hereby invites applications from qualified, competent, proactive and self-driven professionals to work at AICAD Headquarters in Juja, Kenya to immediately fill the vacant position of Executive Director.

This position is occupied on rotational basis among Partner States of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Applications for the position of Executive Director are now invited from nationals of the Republic of Kenya and Republic of Uganda. Previously it was occupied by the United Republic of Tanzania.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Governing Board (GB), the Executive Director will be responsible for providing an efficient and effective leadership, coordination and control of the Institute’s activities to meet its objectives and designed mandate. The position requires a mature, self-motivated, articulate and flexible person.
  • Oversee the day-to-day business of the Institute’s Secretariat, finances including preparation of the Institute’s budget, activities of the four main divisions of the Institute namely Research and Development, Training and Extension, Information Network and Documentation and Administration and Finance as well as the Institute’s Country Offices, strategic planning, public relations, linkages and fund raising activities of the Institute, compile annually or at such intervals as the Governing Board may decide, a report on the activities of the Institute, perform any other such duties and functions as
    may be required by the Governing Board.

    Qualifications / Requirements

  • Should have a Doctorate in Agricultural Science, Engineering, Natural Sciences or Humanities and Social Sciences plus at least ten years teaching/research and/or administrative experience at a University or a Research Institution, should presently be in the grade of Associate Professor or above.
  • The successful applicant must have extensive and proven leadership ability and good interpersonal relations and communications skills.
  • He/she must have demonstrated ability to attract and manage research funds and be IT compliant and competent.
