Role purpose General

  • To plan, organize, and execute production activities including supervision of production teams, record keeping and reporting, maintenance of quality standards of products, safety, routine maintenance works on machineries and equipment, and to ensure smooth production operation and shift production goals are met.

    Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists the production manager in production planning and scheduling.

  • Ensures that the entire operation of the biscuit production line including raw material transfer and storage, dough mixing, dough processing, baking and packaging operations are executed in such a way that machinery and equipment manpower and materials are optimally utilized.

  • Authorizes issuance of raw and packaging materials from warehouse, supervise their proper utilization and ensure all the necessary records are maintained for proper account of material utilization.

  • Supervises and ensure the raw materials and packaging materials received in his/her shift are free of defects upon reception, during storage and handling and production capacity utilization will not be affected by use of poor or damaged raw materials or and packaging materials.

  • Ensures that all the different operations of the plant are synchronized, utilization is optimized, set-up times are minimized and plant capacity utilization is maximized.

  • Ensures product quality and safety by strictly supervising that process control tests have been carried out as per procedures and always within target limits.

  • Plans and executes routine maintenance works in collaboration with the maintenance team and the production manager;

  • Ensure materials and labor-time consumed during the process has been recorded and reported regularly.

  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.

  • Prepares shift schedule to include work station assignments/rotations, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations.

  • Trains and coaches production line employees; conduct employee performance reviews.

  • Ensures quality of products is maintained; make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications; reject product outside of specifications.

  • Operates within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).

  • Studies the operation manuals, maintenance manuals and process technology reference materials, and learn the production and maintenance operations of the overall biscuit plant.

  • Ensures production of his/her shift has been properly recorded, and transferred to store following the right procedure and documents designed for
    the same.

  • Studies and propose new ideas that can lead to improvements in the production operation and contribute to the profitability of the firm.

  • Maintains a clean and safe work area; ensure physical facilities, such as toilets, changing rooms and other areas are properly utilized and they are always kept clean and neat.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements

    Qualification

  • First Degree in Food Engineering/Industrial Engineering/Process Engineering/ Food Technology/ Food Science/Manufacturing Technology/Industrial chemistry/ Applied Chemistry or other relevant field of study.

    Experience

  • 6 years of experience in manufacturing preferably in the food industry of which 2 year on supervisory position.

  • Background in the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery. Experience in managing processes, improvement.

    Required Competences, Knowledge, Skills, Attitude & Attributes

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in production planning, resource allocation, human resources management, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and personnel information systems.

  • Knowledge of production planning and scheduling techniques and principles

  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to production problems.

  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of oneself, production personnel, and production unit to make improvements or take corrective action.

  • Basic Office Applications skills.

  • The ability to apply general production and management rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense in light of specific problems.

  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
