Agriculture Project Manager Jobs for East Africans

Our client, a global leader in irrigation solutions for a sustainable agriculture
is implementing a major irrigation project in Rwanda expected to last 18 months and seeks to hire a Project Manager to be based in Israel
but coordinating the project in Rwanda.

Job Purpose;

Manage the Drip Irrigation Project Life Cycle from planning, production and purchasing, shipment to site, construction and commissioning, and
handover to customer.

Establish and Maintain "Best Practices" in large scale Project Management
methodology, including:

  • Plan and control
  • Coordinate between main providers of services
  • Report and inform all stakeholders
    Assure achievement of project's strategic objectives and successful
    completion.

    Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Planning Phase:
  • Build a detailed work-plan (tasks & timeline) to assure completion on
    time and handover of project to customer.
  • Define the required resources (internal & outsourcing) for project
    execution (sub-contractors, machinery & equipment, staff & HR,
    etc…)
  • Establish the project financial baseline for execution management and routine control of expenses and compliance with profitability
    goals.
  • Establish the project control routine & reports, and confirm compliance with all stakeholders
  • Plan in details the procedures for systems start-up, and handover to
    customer in compliance with contractual commitments.
  • Establish on-going procedures to monitor project risks, and plan in advance mitigation actions accordingly.
  • Staff the project
  • Define job descriptions, plan and recruit the professional staff (on-site
    and back-office) as needed and in compliance with project budget.
  • In consultation with the appropriate manager, recruit, interview and select staff with appropriate skills for the project activities
  • Manage project staff according to the established policies and practices of the organization, and in compliance with project
    management requirements.
  • Contract qualified consultants and subcontractors to work
    on the project as appropriate
  • Present leadership and build team spirit, support transparency, integrity and accountability
  • Implement the project
  • Execute the project according to the project plan and BoD decisions
  • Establish reporting routines and templates to records project activities
  • Establish the IT infrastructure and procedures to ensure that all
    project information is appropriately documented and secured
  • Establish procedures and templates for Change Management
  • Establish and manage reporting routines as per the accepted methodology.
  • Establish and manage the professional steps to assure quality execution of the project in compliance with international accepted
    standards in addition to Netafim quality standards.
  • Establish and control the compliance with international and local standards: safety, health environment.
  • Establish and communicate the project ethic code.

    Essential Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agriculture or equivalent
    Or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Economics with 10 years’ experience managing largescale agricultural projects
  • 10 years of relevant experience in large scale infrastructure / civil works / agriculture projects with preference being irrigation
    projects
  • Experience in Project Management in Africa
  • Fully conversant with modern drip irrigation technology
