Agricultural Finance Corporation Head of Legal Services Jobs in Kenya; To deputize the Corporation Secretary in managing the legal function, with focus on supervising principal officers and ensuring seamless delivery of legal services across all organizational units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the legal department and coordinate workflow among principal officers.

  • Review and quality‑assure legal opinions, contracts, and pleadings before submission to the Director.

  • Represent the organization in appellate court matters and complex ADR processes.

  • Supervise development and maintenance of standardized legal templates and documentation systems.

  • Coordinate legal research on emerging jurisprudence affecting government operations.

  • Monitor compliance with court orders and implement enforcement strategies.

  • Develop and implement performance metrics for legal service delivery.

  • Lead interdepartmental teams on cross‑cutting legal issues.

  • Handle escalated legal matters and provide expert guidance.

  • Conduct training sessions for legal staff on public sector practice.

  • Prepare comprehensive reports on legal matters for oversight bodies.

  • Manage relationships with external counsel and government legal agencies.

  • Oversee legal aspects of organizational projects and initiatives.

  • Maintain updated register of litigation and potential exposures.

  • Deputize the Corporation Secretary in board committee meetings and high‑level engagements.

    Person Specification

  • Master of Laws (LL.M) degree or equivalent qualification.

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university.

  • Post‑graduate Diploma in Law.

  • Advocate of the
    High Court of Kenya in good standing.

  • At least 10 years’ work experience, with 3+ years in senior management.

  • Valid Advocates Practicing Certificate.

  • Membership in the Institute of Public Secretaries (advantage).

  • Leadership course lasting not less than 4 weeks.

  • High integrity, ethical standards, and professionalism.

  • Fulfil requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
