Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development REACH Senior Assessment Officer Jobs in Kenya; Under the supervision of the REACH Research manager, the REACH Senior Assessment Officer is responsible for the management and implementation of all REACH assessments in country, including their preparation, implementation and follow-up, if relevant. S/he will also be responsible for related logistics, partner coordination, reporting and finance requirements and will be required to provide input to the strategic development of REACH in country. Lastly, the SAO will lead on insightful report drafting and dissemination of outputs to inform decision making.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the REACH Research manager, the REACH Senior Assessment Officer shall be responsible for: Designing and implementing REACH assessment strategy and methodology and corresponding analytical frameworks in country.
Ensuring the writing of timely and accurate assessment reports and factsheets with integration of HQ and/or partner feedback.
Keep track of all projects and programmes assessment schedules and work with field staff and assessment staff to design and implement REACH assessment procedures.
Maintain a work plan for all assessments under his/her supervision, and regularly reach out to assessment and field staff to discuss work plans.
Supporting the research manager in the development/revision of assessment/programme strategies, reports or new proposals.
Support the project development officer in writing narrative donor and partner reports.
Mentoring and training junior assessment staff in REACH assessment procedures, research cycles, appropriate reporting and other relevant areas.
In close coordination with the research manager, direct line management of assessment staff in unit including performance management, work plan management as well as be involved in the recruitment process of junior assessment staff.
Liaising with programme staff of other ACTED departments to ensure close coordination is maintained;
External representation of REACH with donors, partners and the wider aid community through sectoral working groups;
Ensuring lessons learned matrices and M&E matrices for all the assessment cycles have been properly filled and shared for In country validation
Ensure the dissemination of all information products under his/her supervision including updating the contact list of key organizations and stakeholders in the relevant platforms.
Required Qualifications
At least 3 years of relevant working experience in humanitarian settings such as operational
research, Food Security or Nutrition programming, coordination;
Excellent academic qualifications, including a Master degree in relevant discipline;
Excellent analytical skills;
Excellent communication and drafting skills for effective reporting;
Excellent team management skills;
Ability to operate in a cross-cultural environment requiring flexibility;
Familiarity with the aid system, and understanding of donor and governmental requirements;
Prior knowledge of the region an asset;
Fluency in English required;
Ability to operation Microsoft Word, Excel and Project Management Software;
Ability to operate R (or related statistical programming), and/ or GIS an asset;
High level of autonomy and ability to work independently.
