Aga Khan University Kenya Faculty Research Jobs

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a programme of research in areas of expertise
  • Pursue external grants actively to support existing and new lines of research
  • Develop cross-disciplinary and cross-campus research collaborations
  • Contribute to the building of relationships with Aga Khan Development Network entities to ensure the Institute’s work enhances the quality of field programmes and Aga Khan Development Network’s field work enriches the Institute’s research and translational work
  • Contribute actively to knowledge on human development through high-quality publications
  • Translate research into knowledge forms usable by practitioners, policy makers, and advocates
  • Build relationships with communities and community-based service agencies to help ground the Institute’s work in real-world issues and questions
  • Contribute to the development of a programme of pre-and post-doctoral research education
  • Contribute to the mentoring of AKU faculty in their early career stages

    Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a PhD degree (or comparable research doctorate) in any of the behavioral, social, and health science fields that contribute to existing knowledge bases on human development.
  • The position requires expertise in early human development, with a line of inquiry focusing particularly on cutting edge questions on the period before birth to age 8 years.
  • Examples of qualifying fields include, but are not limited to, the developmental sciences (e.g., developmental neurobiology/neuroscience, developmental/cognitive psychology, developmental epidemiology), maternal and newborn/child health and nutrition, cultural psychology, anthropology, family studies, child protection, early childhood education, environmental and architectural design with a focus on safe spaces for children etc.

    Aga Khan University Kenya Administrative Assistant Jobs

    Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage the work schedule/calendars, ensuring regular communication to all concerned for the Dean, EA and Academic Head, Kenya.
  • Perform basic office administrative duties assigned including photocopying and meeting minute taking
  • Manage phone calls and correspondences (emails, letters, packages etc)
  • Schedule venues for meetings and workshops. Prepare documents and materials for attendees
  • Coordinate and arrange travel, accommodation and ground transportation for visitors, faculty and staff according to University policies
  • Coordinate catering services as required
  • Ensure timely reimbursements for travel related expenses
  • Efficient and timely management of all physical and electronic files
  • Other administrative duties as may be assigned

    Requirements

  • Diploma in secretarial studies or Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field with a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ working in a secretarial support role
  • Proven competence in working with Microsoft Office Software
  • Excellent communication skills including written and oral English
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast paced environment with competing priorities
  • A good understanding of working across multiple time zones
  • A high sense of integrity and
    confidentiality

    Aga Khan University Kenya Faculty Associate Officer Jobs

    Responsibilities

  • Teaching faculty are all engaged in active clinical practice, research, and professional leadership with a specialty focus on delivery of upgrade programmes for working nurses and midwives.

    Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent degree qualification (or a Master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the relevant area from a recognized/accredited University
  • At least three (3) years teaching experience at University level
  • Six (6) equivalent publication points
  • Supervised at least five (5) postgraduate students to completion
  • Registered or eligibility for registration by the relevant professional body
  • Must meet the CUE appointment requirements for Associate Professor or above
  • Will be a member of the School Senior Leadership Team
  • Applicants must have credentials commensurate with appointment at the level of Associate Professor with a strong academic research background and demonstrated experience in teaching, learning and communicating.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) is essential.
