Aga Khan University Hospital Pharmacology Faculty, Biomedical Sciences Jobs in Kenya;The Department of Biomedical Sciences seeks a full‑time Faculty member to contribute to undergraduate teaching in Pharmacology across MBChB, BSc and Nursing programmes. The role includes academic and research leadership, embedding research expertise into the discipline, and developing networks across AKU and with partners locally and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Pharmacology through lectures, small group work and online materials.

  • Share responsibility for planning and management of Pharmacology teaching and assessment sessions.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and innovation in teaching, learning and assessment.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to create integrated curricula and interactive learning methods.

  • Contribute to evaluation and development of Pharmacology blocks, using feedback to improve quality.

  • Provide academic support and advice to Medical College and SONAM students.

  • Develop and supervise student projects within MBChB programme.

  • Participate in departmental examinations (Written and OSCE) preparations and invigilation.

  • Provide formative assessment and feedback to Residents.

  • Contribute to scholarship or research in Medical Education or related fields.

  • Carry out research work in relevant fields and disseminate outputs.

  • Advise and supervise postgraduate students.

  • Seek grants to fund research activities.

  • Manage relationships with stakeholders internally and externally.

  • Represent AKU at local, regional and national meetings relevant to medical education and Pharmacology.

  • Participate
    in and develop external networks for recruitment, outreach, consultancy and partnerships.

    Requirements

  • Medical Degree or Good Honors Degree in Pharmacology.

  • Postgraduate degree in Pharmacology.

  • Minimum academic position of Senior Instructor.

  • Accomplished teaching of Pharmacology in undergraduate medical programmes using interactive approaches.

  • Experience teaching postgraduate and undergraduate students in programmes beyond MBChB/BSc Nursing.

  • Educational management experience with continuous quality improvement.

  • Research interest and competence with track record of publications in international journals.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize work independently, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.

  • Flexibility, initiative and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent teamwork, leadership and project management skills.

  • Mature and commands respect among colleagues and residents.
