Aga Khan University Hospital Locum Nurse - Woundcare Jobs in Kenya
Responsibilities
Perform wound assessment, reassessment, and wound management for all patients.
Utilize principles of current wound management when providing care to patients with acute and chronic wounds.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of staging system of wounds.
Develop skin care programs to prevent skin breakouts for patients.
Revise plan of care as indicated by patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan effectiveness.
Utilize appropriate pain management techniques and educate patients and families regarding pain management.
Provide education to patients undergoing surgery that results in an ostomy; conduct pre‑ and post‑operative assessments and patient/family education.
Demonstrate knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
Act as a resource person to physicians, nursing, and other hospital staff; provide in‑services on wound prevention, wound care, ostomy care, and incontinence.
Communicate appropriately and clearly to nurse managers, nursing staff, and physicians.
Consult other healthcare professionals/departments as appropriate to provide interdisciplinary approach to patient needs.
Attend seminars, conferences, and continuing education classes in wound prevention, wound management, and ostomies; participate in professional societies and stay current with advancements/treatments.
Demonstrate knowledge of clinical products currently available on the market, evaluate products, and make recommendations.
Document all assessment data, investigation results, care given, discussions with the multi‑disciplinary team, and family/patient interactions accurately and comprehensively.
Perform pain assessment and
reassessment, and initiate analgesia as per protocol.
Promptly report both clinical and non‑clinical unusual findings/incidences to the nurse manager, team leader, or physician.
Identify patient and family education needs and implement appropriate teaching.
Recognize patients in pre‑arrest or arrest states and initiate Basic Life Support.
Provide safe environment for patients through adherence to infection control practices and other safety policies.
Requirements
KRCHN/BScN from a recognized school of Nursing or University.
Current licensure with the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Certificate in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (CWOCN) preferred.
Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in an acute care hospital.
Evidence‑based knowledge of current practices in Medical‑Surgical nursing.
Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
