Job Summary

The AIMIX project (Inclusive Artificial Intelligence for Accessible Medical Imaging Across
The AIMIX project (Inclusive Artificial Intelligence for Accessible Medical Imaging Across Resource-Limited Settings) is a research project that aims to develop artificial intelligence aided pregnancy screening using low-cost fetal ultrasound.

The study is being conducted as a collaboration between the Aga Khan University, The Kilifi County Department of Health, University of Barcelona and other institutions. This position is required to contribute to recruitment of participants, data collection and follow-up for the AIMIX research study and related studies. The successful candidate will be involved in giving information, screening and recruitment, data collection and follow-up of research participants.

S/he will also contribute to TraCer research project and other related studies. This position is based at the Rabai sub-county Hospital. The role will include some local travel between health facilities and to the community. The role may also require out of hours work on nights, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potentially eligible participants for study participation;

  • Screen and recruit participants for eligibility;

  • Administer informed consent or assent for study participants as appropriate;

  • Handle logistics of data collection sessions, including communication, scheduling participants, refreshments and reimbursements;

  • Data collection including both quantitative and qualitative data collection;

  • Contribute to collection, transport and logging of samples for the study;

  • Conduct simple clinical measurements and clinical tests for the study;

  • Identify study participants via phone calls or home visits and invite them to attend scheduled study visits;

  • Maintain communication with study participants
    to encourage their continued involvement in research;

  • Communicate to participants, families and community members about the study;

  • Create daily and monthly summary reports for activities as guided by the supervisor;

  • Attend training sessions and obtain relevant competency in skills essential for delivery of his/her role;

  • Attend any refresher training as and when required;

  • Regularly report any relevant events that affect the study to the supervisor and study coordinator;

  • Manage study supplies and document their use; and

  • Any other role as assigned by the supervisor.

    Requirements

  • Form 4 level education, Minimum KCSE C- or equivalent;

  • Basic computer literacy;

  • Certificate or Diploma level training in the areas of Community Health or Communication and related fields will be an added advantage;

  • Good written and verbal skills in English and Kiswahili;

  • Experience in data collection for research studies or other programs;

  • Experience in community based research activities and/or working at a health facility;

  • Experience in mobile data collection tools; and

  • Experience in collecting or handling biological samples.
