Aga Khan Education Service Social Studies Teacher Upper Primary (PLE) Jobs in Uganda;The Social Studies Teacher is expected to live by the school mission statement, fostering a positive teaching and learning environment where every child is loved, cared for, and respected. The teacher serves as a leader in the classroom, guiding students to reach their highest potential academically, socially, and spiritually, while collaborating with colleagues and administration to uphold the school’s ethos of excellence.

Major Responsibilities

Class Atmosphere & Ethos

  • Adopt a positive approach to all students, respecting capability, behaviour, and cultural diversity.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly classroom, valuing and displaying student work.

  • Check student appearance, hygiene, uniform, and lesson attendance.

  • Set a good example by being punctual and professionally dressed.

    Teaching & Learning

  • Deliver effective instruction, training, and assessment in assigned subjects.

  • Prepare daily lesson plans and implement them consistently.

  • Foster growth mind‑set skills including critical thinking, ethics, creativity, responsibility, respect, and problem‑solving.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and PLC community to improve teaching and align with 21st‑century practices.

  • Achieve exam targets for the subject and school.

  • Set and mark homework following school policy; check notebooks and advise students on improvements.

    Community Relations

  • Hold discussions with parents on student performance.

  • Attend parent meetings at class level
    and specialist meetings as required.

  • Promote the good image of the school within and outside the community.

    Personal & Professional Development

  • Participate in professional development programmes (workshops, ICT training, modern pedagogy).

  • Implement ideas shared during training to improve classroom practice.

  • Identify personal learning needs to enhance teaching and meet career path requirements at AKES,U.

    Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s in Education or BA with PGDE.

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ teaching experience in the relevant curriculum.

  • Proven consistency in class work performance.

  • In‑depth knowledge of teaching methods and legal educational procedures.

  • Proficiency in technology use.

  • Thorough knowledge of student‑centered pedagogical methods.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
