The Aga Khan Education Service, Kenya (AKESK) operates 11 schools in various cities in Kenya and provides nursery to senior secondary education in both the national and international curricula.


It is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private development agencies working to improve living conditions and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world.

The Aga Khan Academy Nairobi, Junior School The Junior School of the Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi is an IB World School and offers a holistic programme of education for students in grades 7-13, combining a rigorous academic focus with a broad range of athletic and enrichment activities for students.

The Senior School offers the IB Middle Years Programme of Studies for students in grades 7-11, blending the syllabus of the Cambridge IGCSE in grades 10 and 11 with that of the Middle Years' Programme of Study. As well, the Senior School offers students entry into the IB Diploma Programme of Studies in grades 12 and 13.

    Aga Khan Academy Nairobi Mathematics Coordinator Vacancies

    The Mathematics Coordinator will support Grades 1-5 staff in the implementation of the PYP Mathematics programme. The Coordinator will work directly with teachers in the school providing classroom-based demonstrations, collaborative and one-on-one support, and facilitating teacher inquiry and related professional development.

    The Coordinator will focus on enhancing teachers' ability to provide instruction that builds students' sense of engagement in the ownership of learning. The Coordinator will also

    work with administrators, PYP Coordinator and teachers to collect and analyze data, interpret, and use it to guide instructional decisions

    Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and supervise curriculum delivery through classroom observation, lesson planning and monitoring of student work
  • Lead in developing assessment tools/map for the Mathematics department
  • Ensure both horizontal and vertical progression within the school
  • Assist in tracking students' progress and attainment levels
  • Lead professional development in the curriculum area and within the PYP
  • Keep school abreast of latest pedagogical practices in the Mathematics curriculum
  • Establish and publish mathematical benchmarks to assist tracking students' progress
  • Ensure curriculum documents are in place for implementation of the programme (Scope and Sequence

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Education degree /a Bachelor's degree with a PGDE and Teacher Service Commission registration.
  • 5 years of experience in a teaching, preferably in international curriculum.
  • Proven consistency in class work
  • Should have knowledge of the Primary Years Programme
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office application
