Synopsis

  • The Network Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of network infrastructure and application components.

  • A Network Engineer performs a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets company and clients’ satisfaction.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve network performance and availability as per the set Service Level Agreements.

  • Managing, supporting and deploying network infrastructures

  • Be able to diagnose network alerts, events or issues

  • Be able to work with common information architecture frameworks

  • Be able to manage time management and organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and projects with minimal supervision

  • Be able to work with project management methodologies and techniques

  • Good oral and written communication skills, and ability to address conflict with others constructively

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule

  • Provide high level of customer excellence

  • Be able to implement change requests and manage them

  • Be able to provide reports on Network, Client faults

  • Be able
    to test networks and find root cause

  • Ability to articulate technical information clearly and simply to non-technical people

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies through the use of self-study materials and intuition

  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations

  • Ability to pay close attention to detail while performing technically detailed tasks

  • Be able to be proactive with faults and resolve within SLA

    Requirements

    Education

  • Matric

  • Relevant CCNP / HCNP

  • Telecoms training – specifically ICT systems

  • Cisco Certification

  • Drivers Licence

    Experience

  • Experience in NOC – specifically working in ICT sector

  • 1-3 years in a NOC support environment

  • Minimum 1-year experience as a Team lead Tier 2

  • Experience working with Ip addressing and Routing

  • Fault report writing

  • Previous experience with RCA

  • Previous customer service or helpdesk experience

  • Experience working with Automated fault management system

  • Experience working with various OEMs (Huawei, cisco, mikrotek)

  • Front office and some back-office experience

  • Experience with Disaster Recovery plans and related technologies
