Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze and maintain an overview of the work of the Project to ensure that timely administrative support
    is provided in general and specialized areas;
  • Assist international personnel visitors on general administrative matters, provide advice and ensure administrative support as required;
  • Sorting and distributing incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail;
  • Prepare and monitor the budget of the Centre and supply relevant information to Officers in charge of budget execution;
  • Prepare correspondence, special reports, evaluation and justifications as required for general administrative tasks;
  • Prepare meetings and follow-up of related decisions for the Project
  • Maintain policy, confidential and basic legal documents, correspondence, management records and
    files so that they remain updated and easily accessible;
  • Maintain files of incoming and outgoing correspondence through a professional filing system to ensure retrieval
  • Make travel arrangements for the Officers and perform liaison duties with partners;
  • Prepare and participate in Departmental meetings and take minutes and/or notes of such meetings;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Project Coordinator.

    Requirements

  • A minimum Diploma qualification from an accredited college or university in business administration, or a closely related field;
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years administrative or clerical experience in the international law areas will be preferable.
  • Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols;
  • Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office;
  • Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure;
  • Ability to set priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to remain self-motivated at all times and flexible in working hours;
  • Handling technical documents with a background in legal terminology and proceedings;
  • Competence in the use of standard Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of SAP and AMERT is an added advantage.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide general legal and administrative support to the process of establishing the HCSS;
  • Draft or assist in the drafting and/or review of legal texts relevant to the HCSS;
  • Advise on rule of law and constitutionalism in the process of establishing the HCSS;
  • Advise on the harmonization and coordination of legal strategies and policies of the HCSS with the framework of the African Union;
  • Assist in the preparation and finalization of draft legal instruments of the HCSS;
  • Attend meetings relating to the HCSS and provide legal clarifications and assistance as may be required;
  • Prepare correspondence, special reports, evaluation and justification as required for general tasks;
  • Follow-up on related decisions of the AU Policy Organs on the HCSS and ensure their implementation;
  • Perform any other functions as may be assigned by the Project Coordinator in furtherance of the
    establishment of the HCSS.

    Requirements

  • Holds at least a first degree in Law from a recognized University anywhere in the world. A Post Graduate Degree in Law will be an added advantage.
  • Preference will be placed on professional admission/enrolment to practice law.
  • High level skills in communication and negotiation as well as the ability to build partnerships with
    partners and key stakeholders.
  • Strong skills in preparation of complex legal documents including confidential legal opinions, MOUs,leading the negotiation of complex projects and programs.
  • Ability to work and deal with sensitive issues in a multi-cultural environment and to build effective working relations with colleagues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral).
  • Competence in the use of standard Microsoft Office Suite applications; knowledge of SAP is an added advantage.

    Job Title: Communication and Information Technology Technician

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair all ICT equipment and maintain all communications equipment in an
    operational state of readiness.
  • In conjunction with MIS Division install and maintain the local area network (LAN) and intranet.
  • Carryout preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Programming of Radios for Field Missions especially those installed for use on the strategic Link.
  • Undertake field Mission where necessary to ascertain the serviceability status of communications equipment and check/repair faulty equipment.
  • Carryout trial tests of all new equipment and certify their suitability for use.
  • Maintain record of all repairs and maintenance carried out on equipment.
  • Installation and maintenance of power supply system.
  • Ensure physical security of all ICT equipment maintained in the workshop.
  • Provide IT end user support to the PSOD staff.

    Requirements

  • A recognized diploma in radio and IT engineering and/or similar relevant qualifications and a minimum
  • Grade 12 or equivalent plus at least 4 years of on-job-training or apprenticeship in a recognized institution
  • At least five (05) years of industrial job experience
  • Proficiency in the mission language English. Knowledge of other working languages would be an added advantage (Arabic, French and Portuguese).

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Commission in explaining the Commission's work to the local and international public, both directly and through the media;
  • Handle the Head of Commission's media relations, including by arranging interviews and facilitating contacts by the media with the Head of Commission;
  • Facilitate media contacts with other senior mission officials;
  • Work closely and actively with local, regional and international media to develop an accurate
    understanding of the Commission's mandate and activities and other related matters;
  • Manage the media and public information activities and raise awareness of core thematic areas within the context of the Commission information strategy;
  • Establish and maintain close contact with spokesperson of the African Union Commission as well as other international organizations present in the areas of competency of the Commission;
  • Administer and manage the media relations activities; conduct general political liaison work as needed;
  • Create and maintain high level contact with broadcast media, the press, governmental agencies,
    international institutions and other civil society organizations (non-governmental organizations, businesses,community organizations, interest groups, etc.);
  • Prepare press releases and background notices for use by the media; provide regular and special
    briefings for the media; arrange for issuance of Commission press credentials;
  • Facilitate as appropriate visits by accredited media within the Commission area;

    Requirements

  • University Bachelor Degree in Mass Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, Broadcasting or related field such as Social Sciences, Business Administration or Management with 3-4 years of experience in
    the field of Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Public Information and Communication. Experience at the national or international level in an institution is an added advantage.
