African Parks Chief Pilot Jobs in South Sudan; The Chief Pilot will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and supporting aerial support functions throughout the operational areas within South Sudan, Ethiopia, and adjoining areas of operation.
Responsibilities Serve as Pilot in Command of African Parks aircraft, including Cessna 206, Cessna 182, Cessna 172, and ICP Savannah
Conduct safe and compliant flights for missions such as logistics support, passenger transport, surveillance, reconnaissance, surveys, research, and general aerial support
Ensure all flights comply with legal limitations, aircraft performance limits, and aircrew experience requirements
Manage aircraft, aircrew, and aviation infrastructure in compliance with legal prescripts and African Parks SOPs
Organize national clearances and flight permits, ensuring all operating permits are valid and in place
Oversee fleet maintenance, fuel management, spare parts, and aviation consumables
Implement active safety and risk management for aerial and ground operations
Coordinate scheduled and ad-hoc aircraft maintenance, cleaning, and continued airworthiness
Ensure aviation support structures, hangars, refuelling systems, and runways are maintained to legal and technical standards
Oversee procurement and sourcing of aviation equipment and parts through official channels
Assist with annual budget calculations, monitor expenditure, and ensure cost-effective operations
Evaluate and implement new aviation platforms, including manned and unmanned aircraft
Ensure proper filing, archiving, and digital storage of aviation documentation
Deliver all required metrics and reports on
time
Lead recruitment and management of pilots and relief pilots
Qualifications
Required licenses issued by the applicable Civil Aviation Authority, with ratings/certification on Cessna 206, Cessna 182, Cessna 172, and ICP Savannah aircraft
SACAA Commercial Pilot Licence
Valid and current instructor’s rating (advantageous)
Minimum 1500 hours total fixed wing flight time, including at least 500 hours bush flying experience
Valid and current instrument flight rating
Valid and current Class 1 medical certificate
Minimum 3 years aviation oversight/management experience
Willingness to be based in a remote area with minimal infrastructure and support
Experience with routine maintenance of Rotax, Continental, and Lycoming engines (as permitted by Civil Aviation Regulations and African Parks SOPs) an asset
Excellent organizational, analytical, oral, and written communication skills in English
Strong initiative, perseverance, and resilience
Team player with experience working in multicultural environments
Strong personal integrity and dependability
Knowledge and passion for conservation and wildlife
Strong commitment to safe, efficient, and compliant remote aerial operations
