African Parks Chief Pilot Jobs in South Sudan;The Chief Pilot will manage, coordinate and support aerial operations across South Sudan, Ethiopia and adjoining areas.

The role ensures safe, compliant and efficient flights, oversees aircraft and crew management, and strengthens aviation support for conservation operations.

Main Responsibilities

Flight Operations

  • Pilot in Command of African Parks aircraft (Cessna 206, 182, 172, ICP Savannah).

  • Conduct safe flights for logistics, passengers, surveillance, surveys and research.

  • Ensure compliance with legal limitations, performance limits and SOPs.

    Aircraft & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee aircraft maintenance, fuel, spare parts and aviation stocks.

  • Coordinate scheduled and ad‑hoc maintenance, cleaning and airworthiness.

  • Maintain aviation facilities (hangars, refuelling systems, runways).

  • Ensure compliance with technical standards and legal requirements.

    Safety & Risk Management

  • Lead safety and risk management for aerial and ground operations.

  • Ensure aviation support structures meet safety standards.

    Administration & Compliance

  • Organize national clearances and flight permits.

  • Manage procurement of aviation equipment and parts.

  • Assist with annual budget calculations and ensure cost‑effective operations.

  • File and archive aviation paperwork and operational metrics.

    Strategic Development

  • Evaluate and implement new aviation platforms
    (manned/unmanned).

  • Support operational planning and cost efficiency.

    Leadership

  • Recruit and manage pilots and relief pilots.

  • Coordinate with APN Head of Aviation, Park Managers, Engineers and Control Room staff.

    Qualifications & Experience

  • SACAA Commercial Pilot Licence with ratings on Cessna 206, 182, 172 and ICP Savannah.

  • Valid instructor rating advantageous.

  • Minimum 1500 hrs fixed‑wing flight, incl. 500 hrs bush experience.

  • Valid instrument flight rating and Class 1 medical certificate.

  • Minimum 3 years aviation oversight/management experience.

  • Willingness to be based in remote areas with minimal infrastructure.

  • Experience with routine maintenance of Rotax, Continental and Lycoming engines an asset.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills in English.

  • Strong initiative, resilience and teamwork in multicultural environments.

  • Integrity, dependability and passion for conservation and wildlife.

  • Commitment to safe, efficient and compliant remote aerial operations.
