  • Anchored in our online learning platform that houses over 65,000 practical business and leadership tools and resources, AMI has delivered learning programmes in Arabic, English, French, Kinyarwanda and Swahili and as we look to reach even more ambitious entrepreneurs and leaders in 2022, we’re looking for a Project Manager – to join us for a 6-month project based contract position – to manage our ever-expanding translation pipeline at AMI.

  • The Project Manager will be the go-to person for everything involving translation at AMI. As we continue to create innovative content designed to support business growth, and leadership development, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing the multiple ongoing and upcoming translation projects, including a team of fantastically-talented translation consultants and working with various stakeholders to manage project budgets and timelines.

  • The successful candidate will report to the Head of Learning and will work within a dynamic, international content and learning team, passionate about impact and excellence!

  • Your core responsibilities will centre on managing multiple stakeholders to ensure that ongoing (and upcoming) translation projects are delivered on time and are of the highest standard for delivery! We’re looking for someone who is passionate about the nitty gritty detail involved in bringing projects to life, excited about building and strengthening processes to drive efficiency, and energised by liaising with multiple stakeholders (both internal and external) to keep our translation projects on track!

  • As part of this role, you’ll work with our finance and partnerships teams to manage project budgets and timelines, work with our external translation agency to manage the pipeline, manage our team of translation consultants and support our team of content associates to ensure that all translated content is uploaded onto and available on AMI’s online learning platform.

  • We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in project management, budgeting and managing others. To thrive in this role, you should be an excellent communicator, comfortable managing multiple tasks and timelines, and committed to working collaboratively with others to drive performance and solve problems.

    Responsibilities:

  • Actively collaborate with AMI’s Content and Learning, Partnerships and Finance teams in
    managing all aspects of the translation pipeline to ensure that AMI’s translated learning resources are delivered on time and are of the highest quality for delivery

  • Coordinate with internal team and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of multiple projects

  • Collaborate with the Head of Learning to scope new projects, and manage the pipeline of upcoming (and ongoing) projects

  • Secure buy-in, feedback and approvals on all project deliverables from all stakeholders.

  • Communicate proactively and effectively with internal and external stakeholders to share project status updates, progress reports, project risks, and adequate escalation of issues/risks as needed, making sure the project is delivered on budget, on schedule, and within scope

  • Work with AMI’s Finance Team to maintain project budgets and budget to actual (BTA) reports

  • Develop, track and update workflows, work plans, budgets, and project timelines with the translation team and manage the team’s performance of project tasks and activities

  • Strengthen core processes to streamline delivery of translated projects Manage all project data and deadline tracking including meeting notes, task lists, critical deadlines and dates

  • Ensure all translated resources are up-to-date on Dropbox

  • Support the internal team to upload and test all translated resources on AMI’s online learning platform

  • Provide day-to-day support to the translation team

  • Conduct post-project evaluation and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements

    Requirements

    Skills & Attributes:

  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively

  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices

  • Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful

  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline

  • Outstanding communication skills – both written and verbal. Ability to liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong people skills – ability to work with a diverse, high-performing team across Africa

  • Independent, self-motivated and able to take full ownership of own workstreams

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in project management, or a related field. Significant experience will be considered in lieu of degree level qualification.

  • 3-5 years of project management and/or related experience

    Preference will be given to:

  • Applicants with qualifications and/or certifications relating to Project Management.

  • Multi-lingual applicants, comfortable engaging in French and/or Swahili and/or Kinyarwanda.
