African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services Volunteers Jobs in Uganda


  • The main objective of the assignment is to take stock of existing FFS interventions and document good practices in the field as a way of sharing FS knowledge and innovations from the field.

  • The core responsibilities are listed below, but the additional duties may be assigned depending on the needs of the hub

    Scope of Work;

    The Research Assistants are expected to provide the following services and tasks:

  • Contribute to the development of a 4W (who, what, where, with whom) matrix for field schools.

  • Search and analyse relevant articles, working papers and blog posts that can contribute to the analysis of the impact of FFS initiatives as well as document field school practices in the field by way of short video clips, blogs and audio podcasts.

  • Participate in actual field school sessions and document any identified good practices

  • Participate in organising FFS relevant events and meetings such as, monitoring calls, workshops and other events

  • Prepare at least two human impact stories that depict the FS-hub vision of “Farmers and agro-pastoralists transforming their livelihoods’’

  • Participate in any surveys, adaptive research and media engagements within the field. If possible they may be requested to collect GPS coordinates of the Field Schools.

  • Engage with the FS project managers and local area government representatives through interviews, write-ups and social media engagements.

  • Translate from local languages, any noticeable impact of the FS approach, captured through poems, songs, drama etc.

  • Contribute to the generation
    of writing outputs such as briefs, minutes from meetings and learning documents;

  • Submit to the FS-Hub AFAAS Partnership, Planning and Learning Specialist/ FSH Coordinator any documented content for uploading to the FS hub portal and FS social media links.

    Deliverables

  • 4W matrix on FFS in the respective area (district, woreda, commune, payam etc)

  • Social media content of FFS (photography, audio podcasts, linked in blogs, YouTube videos etc)

  • FS Human interest stories

    Reporting

  • The FS-Volunteers shall report to AFAAS Partnership, Planning and Learning Specialist
