Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Country Representation
Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for AFAP Kenya.
Develop and implement country strategies aligned with AFAP’s continental objectives.
Identify emerging opportunities, risks, and market trends.
Represent AFAP at national, regional, and international forums.
Strengthen AFAP’s visibility and reputation in Kenya’s agricultural sector.
Business Development and Resource Mobilisation
Lead resource mobilisation and build sustainable funding pipelines.
Maintain relationships with donors, foundations, government institutions, and private sector partners.
Pursue new project opportunities across agriculture, agribusiness, food systems, climate resilience, and rural development.
Lead proposal development including concept notes, technical proposals, budgets, and negotiations.
Position AFAP as a preferred implementing and technical partner in Kenya and East Africa.
Programme Leadership and Delivery
Oversee country office finances, administration, and operations.
Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and performance targets.
Ensure compliance with AFAP policies, donor regulations, and statutory requirements.
Strengthen internal
controls and support audits.
Ensure efficient utilisation of resources.
Partnership Development and Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong relationships with government, development partners, farmer organisations, agribusinesses, and financial institutions.
Facilitate partnerships that expand programme impact.
Support policy dialogue and advocacy initiatives.
Team Leadership and Organisational Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing country team.
Foster accountability, collaboration, innovation, and learning.
Ensure staffing, succession planning, and capacity development.
Promote organisational values and positive work culture.
Minimum Requirements
Master’s Degree in relevant field (Bachelor’s with significant experience considered).
Minimum 10 years programme management/agribusiness/international development experience.
At least 5 years senior leadership experience.
Proven fundraising and resource mobilisation track record.
Strong financial and operational management expertise.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership‑building skills.
Strong communication, presentation, and report‑writing skills.
High levels of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
