Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund Program Manager - Circular Economy Jobs in Kenya;The Programme Manager will provide full‑time investment and programme leadership for AECF’s circular economy portfolio. The role includes structuring, appraising and managing investments in private sector enterprises, ensuring investment decisions are informed by circular economy principles, and leading a small team in close collaboration with sector heads, advisory and programme teams.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Leadership and Portfolio Management

Lead end‑to‑end investment due diligence on prospective portfolio companies.

Structure and recommend appropriate financing instruments (results‑based repayable grants, blended finance, risk‑sharing mechanisms).

Present investment recommendations to the investment committee and manage approval‑to‑disbursement.

Oversee active portfolio management, monitoring performance, compliance and results verification.

Programme Management and Coordination

Manage planning, budgeting, reporting and donor coordination.

Supervise programme team members and consultants.

Monitor programme and portfolio risk, ensuring timely delivery of outputs.

Enterprise Advisory and Investment Readiness

Oversee technical assistance and investment readiness support.

Ensure enterprises receive guidance on cleaner production, eco‑design, recycling, resource efficiency and ESG practices.

Market Development and Knowledge Management

Engage with financial institutions, industry associations, government agencies and partners.

Contribute to market research, investment case development and programme learning.

Oversee monitoring, evaluation and reporting of financial, environmental and circularity results.

Qualifications and Experience

Postgraduate qualification in

Finance, Investment, Business Administration, Economics, Development Finance or related discipline. Background in Circular Economy or Environmental Sciences is an advantage.

At least 10 years’ experience in investment, fund/portfolio management, private equity, venture capital or development finance.

Substantial experience in due diligence, structuring financing instruments and portfolio management.

Minimum 3 years’ programme management or team leadership experience.

Knowledge of circular economy business models preferred.

Experience with donor‑funded programmes involving blended finance or challenge funds is an advantage.

Required Competencies

Strong investment and financial analysis skills.

Proven programme and team management skills.

Understanding of blended finance, results‑based financing and enterprise development.

Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
