Position Summary:

The position reports directly to the CEO of the foundation. The role is responsible for designing, coordinating and implementing the foundations advocacy and public and policy engagement in the organization’s key focus areas.

Core Objectives

  • To coordinate and communicate the foundations advocacy strategy.
  • To engage partners and positively influence decision makers in line with the foundations’s advocacy objectives.

    Responsibilities
  • Design, coordinate and implement effective advocacy programs, campaigns and actions in line with the foundations objectives
  • Identify and foster working relations with key players in government, parliament, media, civil society, religion, academia and private sector.
  • Analyze the Kenyan context and single out key institutions to work with to advance the foundations’s objectives.
  • Commission research on behalf of the foundation and communicate findings and policy positions.
  • Thereafter, effectively convey them to targeted audiences to achieve pre-set organizational objectives.
  • Work with the other foundational program units and the marketing team to leverage opportunities which can effectively advance the foundation’s position
  • Develop presentations, white papers, articles and other material for the consumption of the public to advance the foundation’s position.
  • Represent the foundation in key forums, conferences, seminars, meetings, with the media and other forms; serve as a spokesperson when delegated
    to do so by the Chairman or CEO.
  • Contribute to the foundation’s programs and learning agendas as needed.
  • Work closely with other advocacy organizations to organize joint campaigns where appropriate to strengthen effectiveness.
  • Support the Chairman and CEO in undertaking his advocacy and representational functions.

    Requirements
  • A passion for evidence based, strategic social change in Kenya.
  • At least eight years’ relevant experience in development advocacy.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Ability to network and cultivate excellent working relationships with key actors; develop a respected presence.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in Kiswahili and English
