Role Summary

To handle the Human Resource department and provide administrative support to ensure smooth running of the department and quality delivery of services to the work force.

Key Task and Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing, and controlling the activities and actions of the HR department
    Act as functional lead for Corporation-wide talent planning and performance management.
  • Develop and administer human resources plans and procedures that relate to company personnel
  • Develop and implement HR Strategies that create a high performance organizational culture. Find ways to build morale, improve workplace relationships, and boost productivity and retention.
  • Develop and implement human resources and administration policies, plans and budgets.
  • Develop and co-ordinate the implementation of staff induction and on-the-job orientation programmes.
  • Facilitate staff training and development process in the organization to enhance the staff competencies, individual and organizational performance.
  • Assist to coordinate staff Performance Management including probation assessment and appraisals.
  • Develop and implement staff motivation and retention initiatives to ensure staff are highly engaged.
  • Develop and nurture partnerships through human resources to bridge the divide between management and employees.
  • Responsible for managing and executing an effective performance management framework.
  • Provide input on workforce and succession planning as well as plans business unit restructuring
  • Mediate and resolve employee relations issues; conduct thorough and objective investigations when necessary.
  • Administration of staff benefits by ensuring enrollment, amendment and withdrawal procedures have been adhered to.
  • Coordinate staff employment contract renewal / extension process with an aim of making sure all staff have valid contracts at any one time.
  • Send out communications for confirmation and contract changes
  • Timely and accurate payroll preparation, reporting and maintaining of related documents and records
  • Conduct and assess training needs analysis and baseline attitude surveys in order to design and implement relevant training programmes aimed at building capacity by equipping staff with the necessary knowledge, skills and behavior.
  • Handle grievances and implement disciplinary procedures.
  • Implement an effective human resource management information system.
  • Consult regularly with management and provide guidance when appropriate
  • Create and revise job descriptions
  • Developing, analyzing and updating the company’s evaluation program
  • Developing, revising,
    and recommending personnel policies and procedures
  • Maintaining and revising the company’s handbook on policies and procedures
  • Staff recruitment and on-boarding processes as well as ensuring all employment contracts and staff transfers, promotion and redeployment letters are done and signed.
  • Conducting new employee orientations and employee relations counseling
  • To support the senior leadership team in salary review process and implementation of the organizations pay and reward strategy
  • Managing staff separation process
    Offer guidance to employees on interpretation of acceptable company policies, procedures and employment law
  • Monitor staff time, attendance and absence as well as ensuring adherence to staff leave schedule. Updating and tracking attendance and leave day management / administration.
  • Ensuring compliance to Government and legal aspects on employment and labor relations.
  • Administrative responsibilities over staff compensation.
  • Recommending new policies, approaches, and procedures
  • HR communication and reporting.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in, Social Sciences, Business Administration, HR or other relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Professional qualification in human resource management, CHRP or Diploma.
  • Membership to IHRM
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience working as a human resource advisor
  • Conversant with labor laws.
  • Knowledge of HRIMS.
  • Financial and analytical skills
  • Leadership and strategic thinking skills
  • Counseling skills and of good ethical conduct
  • Good negotiation, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
