Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organization that takes decisive action against the causes and effects of hunger.

Key activities in your role will include:

Objective 1: Ensure timely and quality implementation of ongoing programmes

  • Lead under supervision of the Deputy Country Director the nutrition programme strategy
  • Support the nutrition programme financial and technical implementation
  • Lead the elaboration of quality and harmonized tools for activity implementation
  • Develop and update the nutrition tool box
    Conduct regular field visit to support the team on quality implementation and provide concrete solutions to improve programmes.
  • Propose studies and nutrition assessments linked to ongoing programme to inform the quality improvement of programmes
  • Ensure integration of nutrition in all Action Against Hunger programming
  • Follow up and update the budget follow up tool and provide solution to address overspent and under-spent
  • Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly and end of project reports.
  • Manage the relation with consultant preparing the ToR, following up on the work produced and validating final consultant reports.
  • Support the field team to prepare procurement request and support the timely preparation and follow up of procurement process

    Objective 2: Supervise data collection and data analysis of nutrition programmes

  • Collection and quality control of monitoring, follow up and evaluation data
  • Provide guidance to the M&E team and develop questionnaires and data collection tools.
  • Read external studies on nutrition in Uganda.
  • Develop lesson learnt documents on on-going programmes.
  • Support and analyse monthly activity progress reports (APR)
  • Produce a synthesis of all data collected by Nutrition and Health Programme Managers an external data and inform the DCD, CD and relevant HQ personnel of the key trend of the programmes and nutrition sector

    Objective 3: Support capacity building of the nutrition team

  • Evaluation of the performance and skill level of programme managers
  • Developing the skills of colleagues in nutrition and health
  • Conduct regular field visits to train the team on specific approaches and tools developed

    Objective 4: Develop relevant proposals for donors

  • Provide clear gap and need analysis to justify responses proposed in new projects
  • Analyse and understand the donor priorities and strategy and develop adapted proposals
  • Propose new project ideas in line with the country strategy and needs and gaps identified
  • Lead the technical proposal development process (both budget and narrative)
  • Identify local NGOs to partner with

    Objective 5: Represent Action Against Hunger and its positioning in the field of nutrition

  • Represent Action Against Hunger in all coordination and technical meeting in Kampala
  • Ensure good communication and collaboration with adhoc ministries
  • Ensure good communication and coordination with other implementating partners
  • Ensure good communication with donors funding our projects
  • Dissemination of the Action Against Hunger nutrition and health strategy at country level to partners and funding bodies
  • Develop and maintain a network of harmonious and productive relationships with national representatives and programme partners (funding bodies, other NGOs, etc)

    Requirements
  • You possess a Master's degree in nutrition field.
  • You have
    similar experience of at least 4 years in an INGO; international experience is a plus·
  • You have excellent analytical skills.
  • You are self-driven and willing to go to the field on a regular basis.
  • You have excellent written and spoken English·
  • You are able to demonstarte experience and/or personal commitment to promoting gender equality within the work
  • You are proficient in computer skills; MS Word, Excel, internet, and email is required.
  • You are able to communicate and perform within an international and multicultural team
  • You have the ability to explain complex concepts in straight-forward language.
  • You have a genuine interest in & commitment to the principles of Action Against Hunger.
  • Your work style builds confidence with others, and you believe that every problem has a solution.
