We are looking for a highly skilled, creative HRLD Intern who will primarily support in administrative duties for Tanzania Country Office and auditing HRIS files in preparation of the annual audits in 2019

About the program

Action Against Hunger has led on a number of large-scale emergency operations in the Horn & Eastern Africa since the 1980s, and continues to play a leading role in building the resilience of local communities to multiple shocks through innovative programmes, especially in fragile contexts.

The Horn & Eastern Africa Regional Office supports Action Against Hunger’s operations in the region by providing coherent, efficient and adapted support to the country offices.

It also ensures better engagement with regional stakeholders to allow for enhanced exchange of knowledge and expertise with regional and country partners.

Our Regional Office allows us to gain a better understanding and be more responsive to the political, social and economic complexities of the operating environment. It also ensures that decision-making is made closer to the frontlines.

The regional team, based in Nairobi, Kenya, under the leadership of the Regional Director, is composed of technical and operational specialists essential for running humanitarian, resilience and development programmes.

The team leads on adopting new ways of working and leverages opportunities at the regional level to enhance capacity for delivery at the community level in the countries where we operate.

You'll contribute to ending world hunger by

  • providing primary support in administrative duties for Tanzania Country Office and auditing HRIS files in preparation of the annual audits in 2019

    Key activities in your role will include:

    Tanzania

  • Support the Deputy Director in HR filing for Host Country National (HCN) in Tanzania Country Office.
  • Open a file for each staff and ensure all mandatory documentation as per the employee checklist are filed in soft and hard copy.
  • Ensure all staff files are updated with leave forms, salary advance forms, timesheets and pay slips by 30th of each month.
  • Support in the handover of HR files to the Finance and Administration Manager by December 2018.
  • Scanning and filing all financial and HR administrative documents processed Nairobi on behalf of Tanzania country office.

    Third Country National (TCN) Support

  • Support the HR Officers in running internal audit of Third Country National (TCN) files and ensure all missing documents are uploaded to the respective profiles.
  • Countercheck staff nationalities against passports on file and update HRIS.
  • Cleaning up HRIS home page (check expired alerts and update accordingly).
  • HR Officers to support the intern in running custom reports and administrative tracking sheets from HRIS.
  • HR Officer to support the intern on how to upload documents on respective profiles on HRIS.

    Requirements

    About you……

  • Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management, Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management or it’s
    equivalent
  • Experience with MS Office suite and knowledge of a Human Resource Information System (HRIS) systems.
  • Genuine interest in and commitment to the humanitarian principles of Action Against Hunger.
  • Experience working with diverse international teams; ability to communicate well in writing.
  • Able to work autonomously, with the capacity to juggle multiple projects and pay attention to many small details.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or personal commitment to promoting gender equality within the humanitarian and/or development work.
  • You are fluent in written & spoken English.
  • You have the ability to explain complex concepts in straight-forward language.
  • Your work style builds confidence with others, and you believe that every problem has a solution.

  • You are able to remain calm under pressure and can easily adapt to changing circumstances
