Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) is a regional African-led non-governmental organization that supports livelihood-challenged communities in East and Southern Africa to sustainably improve their well-being and standard of living.

With Country Programmes in South Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Zambia, Djibouti and Ethiopia.

AAH-I has over 30 years’ experience working with communities in conflict and post-conflict situations, including refugees, internally displaced people and host communities.

More recently AAH-I has expanded its activities to work with other marginalized communities, including pastoralists and people living in informal urban settlements.

Job Summary

To check the mechanical condition of AAH I vehicle and equipment regularly; to ensure programme activities run smoothly, vehicles are clean and in good order always in line with AAH I policies.

Qualifications:

  • At least Craft II Motor Vehicle Certificate
  • At least 4 years work in a busy motor vehicle workshop
  • Clean national driver’s license
  • Ordinary level certificate

    Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a vehicle maintenance program/plan for all field vehicles in line with set vehicle operational guidelines.
  • Diagnose problems, repair and perform general maintenance on all equipment and vehicles including adjustments of engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and clutches on petrol and diesel equipment:
  • Inspect and test vehicles to ensure safety, report irregularities and equipment abuse to the transportation supervisor (logistics and stores officer).
  • Prepare annual workshop equipment inventory reports in line with reporting guidelines.
  • Tune up engines, ignition parts, clean and adjust carburettors, perform minor body repairs and respond to
    breakdowns.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and make inspections of vehicles for proper working order and safe operation.
  • Prepare and submit vehicle repair/maintenance monthly reports in line with the AAH I Vehicle Policy.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

    Required education:

  • Vocational school

    Required relevant work experience:

  • 3 years

    Required languages:

  • English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
