AAH-I has over 30 years’ experience working with communities in conflict and post-conflict situations, including refugees, internally displaced people and host communities.

More recently AAH-I has expanded its activities to work with other marginalized communities, including pastoralists and people living in informal urban settlements.

    Job Summary

    To carry out general maintenance and repairs of all motorcycles in line with AAH and donor guidelines.

    Job Description

  • Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing Motorcycles/vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes and tyre replacement, repair & rotation.
  • Maintain motorcycles in functional condition by conducting inspections, repairing engine failures and electrical system malfunctions and replacing parts and components.
  • Maintain motorcycle records of service and repairs.
  • Evaluate service and parts options.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as replacing spark plugs or changing the oil.
  • Dismantle engines and repair or replace defective parts, such as magnetos, carburetors, and small generators.
  • Remove cylinder heads, grind valves, and scrape off carbon, and replace defective valves, pistons, cylinders and rings, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Repair or replace other parts, such as headlights, horns, handlebar controls, gasoline and oil tanks, starters, and mufflers.
  • Repair and adjust motorcycle subassemblies such as forks, transmissions, brakes, and drive chains, according to specifications.
  • Replace defective parts, using hand tools, arbor presses, flexible power presses, or power tools
  • Disassemble subassembly units and examine condition, movement or alignment of parts visually or using gauges.
  • Report any signs
    of Motorcycles misuse by the driver or users in line with performance management and staff code of conduct guidelines.
  • Responsible for the preventive maintenance of the project’s motorcycles including tools inventory, and assist in identifying needed tools or equipment for future needs.
  • Report on vehicle files, repairs carried out for future reference records and update vehicles/generators repair schedule in accordance to maintenance and repair guidelines and user manuals.

    Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
  • At least Craft 2 mechanical Certificate
  • DIT motorcycle Repair National Certificate (added advantage)
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
  • Discipline and punctuality
  • Resilience and patience
  • Ability to work for long hours.
  • Light vehicle maintenance and repair principles.
  • Motorcycle maintenance and repair principles.
