ACPF Senior Technical Officer - Children and the Law Programme Jobs in Ethiopia


  • African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) is a leading, independent Pan-African centre of policy research and dialogue on the African child.

  • It aims to provide a platform for dialogue; contribute to improved knowledge of the problems facing children in Africa; identify policy options; and strengthen the capacity of governments and CSOs to develop and implement effective pro-child policies and programmes.

  • ACPF is recruiting a Senior Technical Officer for its Children and the Law Programme.

  • The Senior Technical Officer (STO) will have a critical technical role in the development and implementation of strategy and programmes.

  • ACPF undertakes research and advocacy around child rights, issues cutting across child protection, child-focused legal reform, and monitoring of child wellbeing and corresponding performances of governments and plays a key role in setting the agenda on African children continentally and globally.

  • The STO is expected to conceptualise, design and implement high quality research that meets rigorous academic and ethical standards.

  • This is a senior technical position, based at the ACPF headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which involves interaction with African, international and civil society executives, thinkers and experts in the child rights area.

  • The successful candidate should have at least 10 years of progressive experience in international human rights, humanitarian or development work, preferably in Africa, and substantial experience and knowledge of research, policy and programme management, the African Union and African regional human rights architecture.

  • She/he should have a post-graduate degree in Law, with experience in Human Rights, Child Law or International Law.

  • The candidate must demonstrate decision making, accountability and high professionalism.

  • She/he needs to be self-driven, work with minimal supervision, have strong interpersonal, communication and representational skills.
  • English is a must; knowledge of French is desirable.
