ACPF Programme Manager, Children and the Law Programme Jobs in Ethiopia


  • The African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) is a leading, independent Pan-African centre of policy research and dialogue on the African child.

  • It aims to provide a platform for dialogue; contribute to improved knowledge of the problems facing children in Africa; identify policy options; and strengthen the capacity of governments and CSOs to develop and implement effective pro-child policies and programmes.

  • ACPF is recruiting a Programme Manager for its Children and the Law Programme.

  • The Programme Manager will have a critical leadership and technical role in the development and implementation of the organisation’s strategy and programmes.

  • She/he will lead work carried out in this specific programme unit, ensure it is relevant, innovative, of high technical quality, managed and implemented effectively and in accordance with ACPF’s programme priorities and strategies.

  • The Programme Manager will play a key role in conceptualising, designing and implementing high quality research that meets rigorous academic and ethical standards.

  • This is a senior position, based at the ACPF headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which involves interaction with African, international and civil society executives, thinkers and experts in the child rights area.

  • The successful candidate should have at least 10 years of progressive experience in international human rights, humanitarian or development work, preferably in Africa, and substantial experience and knowledge of research, policy and programme management.

  • She/he should have a solid record of managerial and intellectual leadership.

  • She/he should have a post-graduate degree in Law, with qualifications in Human Rights, Child Law or International Law.

  • The candidate must demonstrate decision making, accountability and high professionalism.

  • She/he needs to have strong interpersonal, communication and representational skills.

  • English is a must; knowledge of French is desirable.
