Job Description

  • The primary purpose of this post is to monitor and manage the on-site construction of built asset projects for Acorn Holdings Limited. As the Clerk of Works, you will be Acorn’s representative on site(s) working under the directions of the EPC Manager. You will ensure that the Acorn gets value for money by keeping in check the main contractor and sub-contractor(s) in your assigned site to ensure that every project is achieved within set timelines, at the minimum cost possible without compromising quality

  • The ideal consultant is an experienced Clerk of Works with extensive experience in the construction industry, construction management with a good understanding of the building industry, and extensive site-based experience of building services from a supervisory perspective

    Your Responsibilities

    Structures

  • Assess the site & give feedback for Planning / Program Scheduling of Construction Program for Completion and Monitoring.

  • Review and analyses the Site Logistics arrangements that are to be implemented and followed at site and Implement the same on Site.

  • Create daily work schedules and adjust as needed to meet project deadlines

  • Raise RFI’s (Request for Information) after checking the drawings.documentation of all site engineering activities

  • Collaborate with management to align activities with desired business outcomes

  • Supervise all the activities related to Steel Cutting. Tying and Bending at Site. Check the BBS of the Steel as per Drawing. Check whether the Numbers and Diameter of Steel provided is as per Drawing.

  • Supervise Concrete Laying and preparations regarding the same.

  • Supervise and Check Formwork and Scaffolding for all Concrete Members about to be Poured (Dimensionally, Verticality and Horizontality). Also, the timely removal of Same

  • Post Concrete Check after 12 Hours of Setting of Concrete and removal of formwork.

  • Check the Progress of work happening at Site – Whether is as per Planned Schedule or Not

  • Inform and get the Contractor arrange the Manpower, Materials and Machinery to achieve the Planned activities.

  • Calculate the requirement of Manpower, Material and Machinery required, before the commencement of the activity.

  • Monitor and report the Daily progress of works at Site including the Constraints, Restraints and Obstructions at Site

  • Direct engineering activities: assign tasks, provide training and support to the Site Personnel.

  • Organize the Daily Site Meetings at Site within the Site Personnel.

  • Organize Materials requirement for daily work at site.

  • liaising with ccontractors, subcontractors and other professional staff at site and give feedback to EPC Manager wherever they feel it is beyond their capacity to intervene or organize the matters.

  • Ensuring that health and safety and sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to at Site Level

  • Evaluate operations and processes during construction and optimize the process and give feedback to Construction Manager

  • Suggest process/Method Statements and contribute to technical design changes from Construction Point of View to improve performance and efficiency.

  • Provide Solutions for complex issues related to Project Construction and give feedback to EPC Manager in case he is unable to resolve the issues

    Quality

  • Implement Designs / Develops systems by which production quality can be checked in an ongoing process.

  • Receive, Obtain TDS (Technical data Sheets) of all products that are to be used in the Project and get them approved or approve them as per Specifications developed for the Product.

  • Inspect the works ready to be carried out from Conformations to Standards Codes and Procedures.

  • Monitoring, testing, and inspecting products to make sure they meet specified standards.

  • Suggest Pre-Construction and Post Construction actions to set the things right in terms of Quality, Standards

  • Implement Total Quality Management Plans/Project Quality Plans

  • Implement Inspection and Testing Procedure for materials, Products and Services at Construction Site.

  • Implement and Inspect Design Mixes for Concrete at the Start and if Source of Materials s Changing for Concrete.

  • Maintain Documentation of all Quality Checks and Procedures carried out at Site.

  • Contact / Liaise with Contractors / Laboratories for Timely testing of Materials

  • Carry out Internal Audit at the site as scheduled in the Project Quality Plan, PQP.

  • Training of Site Workmen
    on activities and explain them all the parameters that are required to be controlled and the Standard they should maintain.

  • Report to management on Quality aspect of the Project

  • Assist the EPC Manager in the enforcement of the Acorn HSSE policy and requirements on site

  • Assist the EPC Manager in ensuring that all statutory regulations are adhered to, in collaboration with the Acorn Corporate Affairs team;

  • Work in collaboration with the Acorn HSSE team to embed a strong HSSE culture on site through awareness, training and reporting

    Finishes

  • Assess the site & give feedback for Planning / Program Scheduling of Construction Program for Completion and Monitoring for the Finishes – Room Finishes (Screed, Tiling, Joinery, Sanitary Fittings, arrangement of Plumbing, Electricals, Drainage and Ventilation in Ducts), Plaster, Internal & External Painting.

  • Review and analyses the Site Logistics arrangements that are to be implemented and followed at site and Implement the same on Site for the Finishes Part.

  • Create daily work schedules and adjust as needed to meet project deadlines

  • Raise RFI’s (Request for Information) after checking the drawings for all finishing details.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of all site engineering activities for Finishes.

  • Supervise and Check all the activities in 1 above.

  • Post Completion Check of all finishes.

  • Check the Progress of work happening at Site – Whether is as per Planned Schedule or Not

  • Inform and get the Contractor arrange the Manpower, Materials and Machinery to achieve the Planned activities. – For Finishes activities.

    Qualifications

  • Knowledge of building and construction

  • Thorough and keen attention to detail

  • Able to use your initiative patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations

  • Analytical thinking skills

  • Able to analyse quality and performance

  • Previous experience of working as a clerk of works or site inspector in hospitality or service industry

  • Degree or diploma (or equivalent) in a building and construction and/or construction management and related disciplines (architecture, design, building engineering, structural engineering, surveying or similar)

  • Good understanding of the building industry, and extensive site-based experience of building services from a supervisory perspective

  • Institute of Clerk of Works registered (Added advantage)

  • IOSH, NEBOSH, NCRQ, SMSTS or other safety related qualifications (Additional Advantage)

  • Proficiency in Ms Office, AUTOCAD, ARCH CAD
