Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Management Team in coordinating the planning and execution of the work of the technical and administrative staff through: working with technical staff to define the logistics and administrative support needs for upcoming training events, workshops and conferences, well in advance of the events and coordinating with the Finance Manager and
  • Administrative Manager to ensure these needs are met; and ensuring that all the spray activity reports are collated and shared among staff for input before being summarized into end of spray report, assist in drafting of the monthly progress summary reports for USAID, clearly spelling out accomplishments, lessons learned and challenges for each technical area as well as coordinating the compilation of weekly activity reports from the information provided by the field staff and disseminating to staff as appropriate.
  • Coordinate activities for the annual work plan development process and assist with the compilation and formatting of the final copy.
  • Organize, facilitate and document staff meetings, client and counterpart meetings as appropriate.
  • Coordinate the process of preparing technical reports by receiving sectional or individual drafts, collating them into one draft and ensuring that the contributors make further input/edits before the final draft copy is produced.

    Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

  • A diploma or university degree in Project Planning and Management, Social Sciences, Public Administration or other relevant qualifications.
  • At least three (3) years practical experience in similar position in international organizations/development projects in Uganda or elsewhere.
  • Excellent reporting and writing skills and fluency in English a must.
  • Computer skills, strong knowledge of MS Word,
  • Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and Internet is necessary.
  • Knowledge of FAR/AIDAR is added advantage.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Abt Associates Finance Assistant 8 / Finance Officer, Jobs in Uganda

    Key Roles / Responsibilities

  • Maintain the filing of all financial and accounting documents, files, and correspondence.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with compiling the documentation for the monthly financial reports in accordance with Abt Associates procedures and policies to be forwarded for final review to the Finance Manager.
  • Assists with recording expenditures, income, and any other related transactions, in the Abt site office financial tracking/recording program (currently Quick books).
  • Assist the Finance Manager to ensure the books of accounts are up to date at all times, orderly, well kept, and readily available for reference and audit, when required.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with drafting official project correspondence and composing routine correspondence to vendors, bank,
    partners, etc.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in the handling payments at events/workshops, trainings, and other activities.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in compiling estimates for the monthly cash projections for review by the Finance Manager.
  • Assists the Finance Manager in the implementation of the internal control system and financial procedures manual of the company.
  • Maintains a log of VAT vouchers in excess of $500 and submits the vouchers to USAID on a monthly basis.
  • Provide any other support to the Finance Manager as need arises.
  • Preferred Skills / Prerequisites
  • A Diploma in Accounts or Business
  • Administration (minimum) or Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting or its equivalent
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in providing accounting, bookkeeping, or administration assistance.
  • Experience with accounting software (Quick Books) is an added advantage.
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge and experience with outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills and excellent organization skills.
  • Experience with USAID or other donor funded project and knowledge of FARs and AIDARs is highly desirable.
  • English language proficiency is required.

  • 2+ years of experience and bachelor degree OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Abt Associates Office Assistant 3, Insectary Technician, Jobs in Uganda

    Organization Overview

    Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and care on a daily basis the insectary and the animal (rabbit) house.
    Feed mosquitoes and the rabbits.
  • Ensure that enough susceptible mosquitoes are available for entomological monitoring activities whenever needed.
  • Ensure that rabbits are readily available and healthy for feeding the mosquitoes.
  • Ensure that the insectary and the animal (rabbit) house are clean.
  • Ensure at all times that there are no crawling, walking, flying or resting insects or spiders in the insectary other than larval and adult mosquitoes in cages.
  • Monitor the correct temperature and relative humidity in the insectary.
  • Dress, care and maintain the mosquito cages.
    Observe confidentiality of the insectary data.
  • Report any challenges encountered in the interest of the insectary immediately to Abt Associates.
  • Document any lessons learnt regarding the proper maintenance and functioning of the insectary.

    Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

  • Diploma in Entomology and Parasitology.
    At least two years’ relevant experience in insectary management and related entomology activities.
  • Ability to take initiative, make appropriate decisions and manage insectary effectively.
    Advanced written and oral skills in English.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • 0 years of experience and high school diploma OR the equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior work experience is preferable.
