Job Description
Risk Management
Provide subject matter expertise to risk types in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF).
Develop and coordinate risk management programmes to identify exposures at process level and perform risk and control self‑assessments.
Provide management with accurate risk information for effective decision‑making on internal controls.
Facilitate identification, assessment, and mitigation of operational risk in line with ERMF and ensure alignment with the risk and control library.
Ensure key risks and controls are identified, documented, and assessed regularly in line with CPA, MCA, and RCSA standards.
Identify, assess, and report key risks arising from significant events, investigations, and audits.
Identify control gaps in processes and recommend remedial actions.
Develop and recommend appropriate Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), revising thresholds when required.
Keep risk management systems up to date with all ORMF components.
Analyse and investigate causes of operational events, ensuring sustainable solutions and interim controls.
Develop strategic and tactical responses with management to address risk exposures.
Ensure the business continuity plan is updated and tested.
Provide input into risk policies, strategies, and measurement methodologies.
Drive risk awareness through formal and informal training.
Challenge BU management to prioritise and mitigate key risks.
Monitor internal and external environments to identify emerging risks, trends, and best practices.
Assist in reviewing business initiatives and proposals, including new or amended products.
Governance and Reporting
Source information and compile risk reports, ensuring data quality and accuracy.
Prepare risk profile reporting for relevant stakeholders and committees.
Ensure minutes, action logs, and decision logs for Risk meetings are completed and adopted.
Keep the Central Action Tracker up to date and escalate overdue actions.
Complete monthly Risk Events Reconciliation, MCA, Risk Events and Issue Trackers, and Risk Self‑Assessments with supporting evidence.
Perform mandatory escalation required by ORMF (losses above threshold, indicators above threshold).
Provide updated feedback to governance committees on significant items.
Ensure adherence to all applicable policies, standards, frameworks, and regulations.
Integrate business‑related risk requirements into governance structures and evidence key risk decisions.
Log and report operational risk framework components onto systems and committees.
Monitor completion of mandatory
training and follow up where necessary.
Facilitate tabling of business initiatives and proposals at governance structures.
Management Assurance / Audit Engagement
Develop the Assurance Plan with Savings and Investments management and assurance providers across three lines of defence.
Conduct 1LOD risk and process assurance reviews aligned with combined assurance plans.
Deliver assigned assurances to high quality in line with Assurance Standard.
Prepare announcement and scoping memos with key deliverables.
Conduct walkthroughs to understand risks inherent in processes.
Develop in‑depth business knowledge to identify and assess risks and controls.
Design and execute approved sampling techniques and testing strategies.
Prepare detailed working papers for assurance reviews.
Manage internal audit, combined assurance, and compliance relationships.
Ensure findings are noted in CPA’s, RCSA, Risk Packs, and tracked until resolution.
Amend controls once actions and milestones are closed.
Track progress of action plans raised in Operational Risk Self‑assessments to achieve compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
3–5 years’ experience in risk/control environment within Financial Services Industry.
Proactive self‑starter with initiative and minimal guidance.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present reports to Risk Committees.
Teamwork ability critical to success.
Computer proficiency: advanced Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Solution‑driven, passionate, and energetic.
Strong sense of ownership and initiative.
