Absa Bank Limited Senior AI Platform Engineer (Cloud) Jobs in Kenya; Absa Group’s Chief Data Analytics and Applied AI Office (CDAIO) seeks a technically exceptional and commercially grounded AI Platform Engineer (Cloud) to design, build, operate, and continuously optimise the multi‑cloud AI infrastructure powering the bank’s enterprise AI capability. This role is the engineering backbone supporting live AI projects across four business units and ten countries, ensuring scalable, secure, and cost‑efficient AI delivery aligned with Absa’s strategic objectives.
Key Focus Areas
AI Platform Engineering & Architecture – Design and operate enterprise‑grade, multi‑cloud AI infrastructure (AWS Bedrock, Databricks AI, Azure AI Foundry, Hugging Face, GPU clusters).
AI FinOps & Compute Cost Governance – Own AI compute cost models, chargeback frameworks, throughput optimisation, and monthly cost reporting.
Platform Observability & SLA Engineering – Define AI‑specific SLAs, implement observability tooling, and manage incidents for production AI workloads.
AI Security Architecture & Zero Trust – Implement zero‑trust security, OAuth/OIDC integration, prompt injection controls, and data residency compliance.
Agentic AI Infrastructure – Design and operate infrastructure enabling multi‑agent AI systems, autonomous workflows, and orchestration at enterprise scale.
Accountabilities
Lead design, deployment, and optimisation of Absa’s multi‑cloud AI stack.
Architect scalable platform components including gateways, model serving, vector databases, and pipelines.
Define and enforce Infrastructure‑as‑Code standards (Terraform, Pulumi).
Own AI compute cost governance, dashboards, and optimisation strategies.
Implement observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Databricks Monitoring).
Design zero‑trust security architecture and enforce compliance across jurisdictions.
Lead and mentor AI Platform Engineers, ensuring agile
delivery and capability growth.
Qualifications & Experience
Postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or equivalent (Masters essential, PhD advantageous).
Certifications in Cloud (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure AI Engineer), FinOps (FOCP), Security (CCSP/AWS Security Specialty), and IaC (Terraform Associate).
5–8 years’ leadership experience in Cloud AI Platform Engineering with multi‑cloud production stacks.
2–3 years’ experience in AI FinOps, AI Security Architecture, Agentic AI Infrastructure, Platform Observability, and IaC.
Experience in regulated industries (financial services preferred).
Knowledge & Skills
Multi‑Cloud AI Platform Architecture (AWS, Databricks, Azure, Hugging Face).
Agentic AI Infrastructure (LangGraph, AutoGen, Bedrock Agents).
AI FinOps & Cost Management (chargeback models, GPU optimisation).
AI Security & Zero Trust (OAuth, RBAC, prompt injection prevention).
Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform, Pulumi, Kubernetes).
Platform Observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
Cloud‑Agnostic Model Serving (ONNX, BentoML, Triton).
MLOps Tooling (MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow).
GPU/HPC Architecture for large‑scale training.
Enterprise Risk & Governance compliance.
