A & J Global Legal Officer Jobs in Kenya; Our client, operating within the Pension Fund sector in the East African region, is looking to fill key positions to join a team dedicated to delivering client centric services aligned with its strategic goals and plans for the next five years and beyond. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, candidates must be prepared to take on vital roles defined by the policies and frameworks established to fulfill the organization’s core mandate.

This is the entry and training level for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.



a) Duties and Responsibilities

(i) Drafting contracts, MoUs and other legal documents;

(ii) Identifying legal and compliance;

(iii) Liaising with external lawyers on all cases filed against the Fund to ensure instructions, witnesses and statements are procured on time; and

(iv) Liaising with external lawyers to initiate lawsuits or to formulate a defense, to gather evidence in legal proceedings involving the Fund and rendering general advice relating to any legal proceedings involving the Fund.

(v) Developing contract negotiation strategies and building capacity for contract negotiation;

(vi) Reviewing and drafting of contracts, and development of standard templates for the Fund’s use;

(vii) Maintaining a contractual risk register and developing mechanisms to identify early warning of risk to enable early interventions and mitigation;

(viii)

Monitoring legal risk to ensure that the Fund meets its statutory obligations and fulfills its strategic objectives; and

(ix) Participating in the development of records management and storage; and processes for all Fund title documents, legal correspondences and other critical legal documents.

(x) Participating in preparing budget that relates with advisory services and performing same upon approval; and providing warranted recommendations to protect the Fund’s interest;

(xi) Participating in the development of standard contracts & formats used by various organs Preparing legal briefs and rendering legal advice and/or opinion on contract preparation/amendment, any policy & strategic issues as and when required;

(xii) Reviewing contracts both local and international including loan, mortgage, pledge, guarantees etc. of the Fund;

(xiii) Planning and conducting research aimed at improving the provision of an efficient
