The United Nations Development Programme for Somalia in Nairobi is hereby inviting applications for the following consultancy in the Rule of Law and Security Programme (ROLS).

Position Title: Technical Advisor (DDR, SSR and Small Arms Reduction)

Post Level: A3

Type of Contract: Assignment of Limited Duration - ALD

Duty Station: Garowe, Puntland (initially) - Somalia

Duration: 12 (Twelve) months

Qualifications and Experience

Masters degree (or equivalent) in development or a related field;

At least 5 years field-based and headquarters experience, in DDR and weapons collection within a development agency;

Minimum of 2 years of specific substantive and technical experience in UNDP County Offices;

Fluency in English;

Knowledgeable on UNDP's programme management/strategy regulations, systems and procedures, including execution modalities.

Competencies:

Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization;

Ability to work and adapt well with people of different national, ages, cultural, gender, religious and racial backgrounds;

Ability to work independently, multi-task and work and well under pressure;

Maintain confidentiality and discretion when dealing with sensitive issues;

Ability to make timely and quality judgments and decisions;

Able to work in a team, organize work and projects.
