The Sanlam Awards was launched to reward excellence in financial journalism.
It honours the indispensable role of the financial journalist in modern business life and the high standards required by this profession - in particular integrity, diverse knowledge and insight, responsibility and judgement.
The competition is open to bona fide journalists in South Africa, in the full-time employment of any media group or who are mainly dependent on freelance journalism for their livelihood.
Any printed report/article or radio or television programme/insert or material distributed by means of podcasting or RSS feeds or web news pages and electronic news services may be entered, provided it: is of a financial or economic nature within the sections specified; and was published/broadcast/distributed in South Africa, except in the section for members of the Foreign Correspondents' Association.
Where possible, entries for print and internet media should preferably be submitted online or by email.
Submitting hard copies – with your television/radio broadcast on a DVD/CD – is the only option for entries from broadcast media.
Only one entry, per participant, per section will be allowed, except for broadcast media journalists, who may submit radio and TV work as separate entries.
A participant may submit entries for more than one section, but each entry must have its own entry form and be submitted separately.
