The Pentecostal and Charismatic Research Initiative Grants: The Pentecostal and Charismatic Research Initiative (PCRI) request for proposals (RFP) for Individual Grants is designed to provide a scholarly framework based in the social sciences and financial support for research into Pentecostalism and charismatic Christianity in four specific geographic regions: Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the former Soviet Union.

Applicants may request up to $100,000 over two years (24 months) to support scholarly research, although not all projects can be supported at this level.

Doctoral students and scholars affiliated with universities, colleges, and research centers may apply.

PCRI will award up to 15 grants in this area. $1,500,000 in grant funding is available for the individual grants RFP.

Individual grants will be awarded for research conducted over a two-year period, beginning May 1 and ending May 31.

The budget should reflect the actual cost and standard of living for each geographic area in US Dollars.

Acceptable use of grant funds includes the following:

  • Salary and benefits for: graduate student and postdoctoral support.
  • Summer salary and teaching buyout for academics.
  • Support for a leave or sabbatical extension in order to be free to undertake the proposed specific project for academics.
  • Assistance in writing or publishing books including editing, indexing, and publication subvention.
  • Modest allowance for justifiable equipment, computers, and other supplies.
  • Modest travel allowance, including travel to access scholarly resources unavailable at the investigator’s home institution.
